Dana White's Contender Series Season 7 Betting Preview: Caio Machado vs. Kevin Szaflarski
August 8, 2023
Catch the heavyweight clash between Caio Machado and Kevin Szaflarski in the upcoming Dana White's Contender Series. Both fighters are evenly matched here, making this an excellent betting option to consider.
Location: UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada
Date: Tuesday August 8, 2023
Main Card: 7:00 PM ET
Watch on: ESPN+
Caio Machado Betting Preview
Machado is currently on a five fight winning streak coming into this battle. His most recent victory was a first round submission armbar against Edison Lopes back in December of last year.
His fighting resume shows that he has seven wins that consists of four knockouts, two submissions, and one decision. Six of his seven victories have resulted in a first round finish and his only loss has been a decision.
“Bigfoot” has only competed with Battlefield Fight League so far, putting up a 7-1-1 record against subpar competition. Three of his battles have been against fighters with a losing record, especially one that had a 11-14 record.
He is currently ranked as the second best professional Canadian heavyweight, but needs to defeat an opponent that actually has a decent record. This will be a good opportunity to put any doubters to rest with a standout victory here.
Kevin Szaflarski Betting Preview
Szaflarski is currently on an 11 fight winning streak as he approaches this event. His most recent win was a first round TKO against Kornel Zapadka back in May of last year.
His fighting resume shows that he has 11 wins that consist of five knockouts, four submissions, and two decisions. Nine of his 11 wins have resulted in a first round finish and his only loss has come by knockout.
He has moved around various fighting leagues over the years up until this point. His most notable achievements are a 3-0 record in the PLMMA.
He has several matchups on his resume that are great tests, as these were against solid fighters with established winning resumes. This should be another test, but one he seems to be the most prepared for.
Game Odds, Series Trends and Free Pick
The following moneyline from MyBookie shows that this fight is a toss up, as both are evenly matched according to the market. As these two fighters take the octagon, you could almost flip a coin to decide their fate.
Kevin Szaflarski: -110
Caio Machado: -110
*odds are subject to changes
Both fighters need a strong performance here to make a good impression in order to get into the UFC. Even with a loss, it still has to be an incredible fight in order to impress Dana White. Based on previous performances and the quality of battles they have put up, Szaflarski appears to have the best shot to win.
Final Pick: Take Kevin Szaflarski to Win at -110
