Alamo Bowl Betting Preview: Arizona Wildcats vs. Oklahoma Sooners

The 2023 Alamo Bowl will take place on Thursday, December 28th, and will feature the 14th-ranked Arizona Wildcats playing the 12th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners in San Antonio, Texas at the Alamodome with the game kicking off at 9:15 PM ET on Thursday night and will air on ESPN.

 

The Arizona Wildcats enter this game ranked 14th in the College Football Playoff rankings with a record of 9-3 and are on a six-game winning streak following a 59-23 win on the road in the season finale against the Arizona State Sun Devils. Arizona is one of the highest-scoring teams in college football this season as they enter this game averaging 34.33 points per game while also having one of the best passing offenses in the nation as they are averaging 294.33 passing yards per game which ranks 11th in college football. 

 

Noah Fifita played a pivotal role in the success the passing offense has had this season as he enters this game leading the team in passing having completed 217 of 295 attempts for 2,515 yards with 23 touchdowns and five interceptions while Tetaiora McMillan has been the main beneficiary of the passing offense as he enters this game leading the team in receiving with 80 receptions for 1,242 yards and ten touchdowns. The Arizona Wildcats will look to extend their winning streak to seven games when they play the Oklahoma Sooners.

 

Oklahoma finished the season on a three-game winning streak following a 69-45 win at home in their season finale against the TCU Horned Frogs to finish tied for 2nd in the Big 12 with a record of 10-2, however, they lost the tiebreaker with the Oklahoma State Sooners following the loss earlier in the season.

Dillon Gabriel had an impressive season as he finished the year completing 266 of 384 attempts for 3,660 yards with 30 touchdowns and six interceptions, however, Gabriel will not play in the bowl game as he has transferred to the Oregon Ducks. The Oklahoma Sooners will look to end the season on a four-game winning streak when they play the Arizona Wildcats in the 2023 Alamo Bowl.
