ALCS Betting Preview: Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers

October 23, 2023

The Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros will meet once more to decide who will win the ALCS and advance to the World Series in what could be an epic Game 7 which is slated for Monday nightinside Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.

They toss out the first pitch at 8:03pm. The Rangers laid it on the Astros on Sunday night, breaking open a close game into a rout. Adolis Garcia highlighted the win with a ninth-inning grand slam to break the game open as the Rangers won it, 9-2.

Houston Astros Betting Preview

The Astros won a classic Game 5 because their veteran players came alive at the most crucial point of the game. They will need that again in Game 7 because it does not matter if you have homefield or not, anything can happen in a deciding winner take all game. They also need to show more patience at the plate, something they did not do in Game 6 on Sunday night.

Look for Jose Altuve to lead the way once again. He is the heart and soul of the franchise which won 90 games this past season. Do not expect the defending World Series champions to go quietly. They are not built like that. They need to jump out to a quick lead and really put the Rangers on their heels early on. Teams tend to tighten up in a Game 7 when they fall behind.

The Astros best threat came in the eighth inning when they were down 4-2 with the bases loaded but could not push a run across.

The Astros have not named a starter as of late Sunday night.

Texas Rangers Betting Preview

The Rangers have enjoyed such a wonderful season and they know how close they are to an improbable appearance in the Fall Classic. They got to this point because they are a very tough team which they clearly showed on Sunday night, thanks to their gutsy win to force a Game 7.

They got a huge home run from their catcher and DH Matt Garver who cracked a two-run shot in the second inning to snap a 1-1 tie and give the Astros the lead for good. They will also have to get the early lead and try to take the Astros fans out of the game early on.

They also need to work the counts in their favor and make the Houston starters throw a ton of pitches. If they can get to the starters and force them to go to the bullpen they have a chance in this game. The Rangers have not named a starter for the game and they are going to pull out all the stops if need be. The road team is unbeaten in this series, which gives the Rangers hope.
