The American Athletic Conference Tournament Championship will feature the 11^th-seed Temple Owls facing the 4^th-seed UAB Blazers with the tournament taking place in Fort Worth, Texas at the Dickies Arena with tip-off scheduled for 3:15 PM ET on Sunday afternoon and will air on ESPN.

The Temple Owls have had success throughout their program history, especially under legendary coach, John Chaney, however the Owls have not won a conference tournament championship since the 2009-10 college basketball season and were not expected to make it to the conference championship this season after finishing the regular season under .500 in conference play with a record of 5-13 in conference games which was tied with the Tulane Green Wave, Wichita State Shockers, UTSA Roadrunners, and the Rice Owls for last place in the American Athletic Conference. 

However, the Owls have gotten hot in the tournament and are only one win away from earning the automatic qualifying bid for the conference after winning their first four games in the conference tournament with wins over the UTSA Roadrunners by a score of 64-61 in the 1^st round, a 75-60 win over the SMU Mustangs in the 2^nd round, a 58-54 win over the Charlotte 49ers in the Quarterfinals, and a 74-73 win against the FAU Owls in the Semifinals. Temple looked as though they may get blown out against Florida Atlantic after trailing 25-33 at halftime, however Temple started the 2^nd half out making four 3-point baskets in the first three and a half minutes in the 2^nd half to cut the deficit down to 37-42 before going on a 4-0 run to trail Florida Atlantic by a point and finally took the 51-49 lead with 12:15 left to go in the game and never trailed after that point. 

The Temple Owls will look to win their first American Athletic Conference Tournament since joining the conference when they face the UAB Blazers.

The UAB Blazers will look to earn their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since the 2021-22 college basketball season after finishing as the Runner Up in the NIT last season. The Blazers have been one of the best teams at creating 2^nd chance opportunities as they rank 27^th nationally in offensive rebounds with an average of 12.9 offensive rebounds per game. UAB has won both of their conference tournament games by double digits with a 72-60 win against the Wichita State Shockers in the Quarterfinals and a 93-83 win against the South Florida Bulls in the Semifinals with the win also extending their winning streak to four games. 

UAB will look to win their first American Athletic tournament since joining the conference when they face the Temple Owls on Sunday afternoon. The Blazers blew out the Owls in their only other meeting this season on the road by a score of 100-72 which was their first win during their current winning streak. The Blazers have been shooting the ball extremely well over their last five games and enter this matchup averaging 85.2 points per game over their last five games.
