Anaheim Ducks vs. Buffalo Sabres

January 23, 2024

The Buffalo Sabres will travel to Anaheim, California to face the Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Center with the game scheduled to start at 10:00 PM ET on Tuesday night and will air on Bally Sports Southern California and MSG Buffalo.

The Sabres enter this matchup with one of the worst records in the Eastern Conference as they enter this game with a record of 20-22-4 and 44 points which puts them in 7th place in the Atlantic Division and gives them the 3rd worst record in the conference following a 1-3 loss at home against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.

Buffalo has been one of the lowest-scoring teams in the NHL this season as they are averaging 2.91 goals per game which is the 8th fewest goals per game while having the 7th worst power-play success rate at 14.29%. The Sabres have also been a middle-of-the-pack team defensively as they rank 17th in goals allowed per game and 15th in penalty-kill percentage with an 80.14% penalty-kill percentage and an average of 3.17 goals allowed per game.

Casey Mittelstadt has been one of the better players on the team as he leads the team in assists and points with 27 goals and 39 points. The Buffalo Sabres will look to bounce back following the loss against the Tampa Bay Lightning when they travel to face the Anaheim Ducks.

The Anaheim Ducks are in 7th place in the Pacific Division with a record of 15-30-1 and 31 points which also gives them the 3rd worst record in the Western Conference and are on a three-game losing streak following Sunday’s 2-5 loss at home against the New York Rangers. The offensive production has been one of the main reasons for the abysmal season the Ducks are having this year as they are averaging the 4th fewest goals per game and rank 21st in power-play success rate with an average of 2.53 goals per game and a power-play success rate of 18.88%.

Anaheim has also been one of the worst teams defensively in the league as they rank 25th in goals per game and 21st in penalty-kill percentage with a 78.18% penalty-kill percentage and an average of 3.44 goals allowed per game. Frank Vatrano has been one of the better players on the team as he leads the team in goals and points with 21 goals and 33 points. The Anaheim Ducks will look to end their three-game losing streak when they host the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night.

BookMaker has the Buffalo Sabres listed as -155 moneyline favorites on the road against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night. Buffalo is 6-3-1 in the last ten and has won two of the last three meetings. The Sabres have won by an average margin of .8 goals per game over the last ten and 1.67 goals per game over the last three games in the series.

Neither team enters this game with a winning record, however, Buffalo has the better record and has been the better team in the series, going 6-3-1 in the last ten and winning two of the last three contests. The Sabres have won by an average margin of .8 goals per game over the last ten and 1.67 goals per game over the last three matchups which is why I am taking the moneyline for the Buffalo Sabres when they travel to face the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night.
