Arizona Cardinals vs. Detroit Lions

September 22, 2024

Written By: Evan Perkins

The Detroit Lions (1-1) will play the Arizona Cardinals (1-1) on Sunday, September 22, at 4:25 PM ET at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The Lions are slightly favored with a point spread of -3.0 (-105).

Detroit Lions Betting Preview

The Lions lost momentum from their recent battle, a 20-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This was an entertaining matchup, especially since it was a playoff rematch.

Jared Goff had great moments in the game but had two interceptions. He completed 34 of his 55 passes and had 307 yards. Jahmyr Gibbs balanced out the offense with his running, as he had 13 carries for 84 yards.

On paper, the Lions were the more appealing team, at least offensively, as they put up 463 yards and 26 first downs. They held the Bucs to 216 yards and 14 first downs and forced a turnover. Despite having the ball for around 33 minutes, their two turnovers did not help their cause.

Offensively, they rank 16th in the league with 21.0 points per game. On defense, they rank 12th, allowing 20.0 points from opponents each game. This does not leave much room for error.

Arizona Cardinals Betting Preview

The Cardinals blasted the Los Angeles Chargers in a 41-10 rout to earn their first win of the season. After a 14-0 start in the first quarter, you could tell the offense would have their way this game.

Kyler Murray only missed four of his 21 passes and accumulated 266 yards with three touchdowns. Marvin Harrison Jr. had four receptions with 130 yards and picked up two touchdowns. They also had a strong run game, with James Conner rushing 21 times for 122 yards and had one touchdown.

The Cardinals did a great job on both sides of the ball, putting up 489 yards and having 24 first downs. Their defense held the Rams to 245 yards and 14 first downs. Both teams had a turnover each, but the Cardinals had the ball for roughly 37 minutes.

Their offense has looked great, averaging 34.5 points per game and ranking second. Their defense is solid, as they have allowed 22.0 points per game and rank 17th. If their offense can stay at this level, they have an excellent opportunity to win.
