The Atlanta Hawks will face the Miami Heat on Tuesday night inside State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.  The game will tip off at 7:30 p.m.  The Heat are fighting for a playoff spot, while the Hawks are playing out the string and looking to end their season on a positive note.  Bookmaker has installed the Heat as a slim 3.5-point favorite. 

The Heat (43-35) are just three games out of the Southeast Division, and they are chasing the upstart and surprising Orlando Magic, who have shocked many this season with their solid play.  Miami, though, believes they can get into the playoffs and go on a run like we have seen in years past.  They are currently in the eighth seed and have an outside shot at getting the sixth seed, which makes all the difference in the world. 

On offense, they are led by several players, including veteran shooter and scorer Jimmy Butler, who can still score with the best of them even at this stage of his career.  He might not go off for 40 points a night, but he can go off for 25 plus on any given night and, occasionally, turn back the clock with a vintage performance. 

The other offensive weapon for the Heat is Tyler Herro, who has stepped into his own this season.  He averages 20 points a game and is not afraid of the big moment or taking the big shot if his team is down late. 

The Heat have played much better defense late in games, but they need to buckle down early and not have to play from behind.  They connect 56% from the floor, including 36% from beyond the arc. 

The Hawks (36-42) have dropped three of five after a nice but brief four-game winning streak.  They are looking to capture some wins here and there to close out the season on a positive note.  They have been a colossal disappointment this season, and they will be on the outside looking in when the playoffs roll around. 

Point guard Trae Young is still a decent scorer and the team's best all-around player, but the Hawks' issue has been the same for the last several years—they need to learn to finish games.  They also do not have the overall talent on offense to come back from large deficits.  Once you get them down, they have shown they will quit to some degree. 

They connect on just 29% of the floor, including 38% from the floor.  Overall, they must explore bringing in some better shooters during the off-season. 

The Hawks are 2-3 in their last five games, 1-4 in their last five games against the spread, and a rough 13-26 in their road games against the number.  The totals have gone over in three out of their last five games.  The Heat are 3-2 in their last five games and 3-1 in their last five games against the spread.  The Heat are 23-14 in their road games against the number.
