The Boston Red Sox will travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to face the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park with the game scheduled to start at 4:05 PM ET on Saturday afternoon and will air on NESN and SportsNet Pittsburgh.

 

Boston entered the season without any expectations of being a competitive team in the 2024 MLB season as they entered the year with an over/under win total of 77.5 games.  They are on pace to surpass that number after a solid start to the season as they enter Game 2 of the series against the Pittsburgh Pirates with a record of 11-10 which puts them in a tie with the Tampa Bay Rays for 4^th place in the AL East.

The Red Sox started the series off against the Pirates with an 8-1 win in Game 1 of the series, however, Boston has struggled over their last five games compiling a record of 2-3 with the three losses coming in a 1-3 series loss at home against the Cleveland Guardians. Boston has won six of the previous ten games in the series and has outscored Pittsburgh by an average of 4.3 to 3.6 runs per game in those contests.

The Boston Red Sox will look to win their 4^th series of the season when they travel to face the Pittsburgh Pirates in Game 2 of the three-game series.

 

After a red-hot start to the 2024 MLB season in which the Pittsburgh Pirates started with a record of 9-2 in their first 11 games, the Pirates have cooled off considerably as they have lost seven of their last nine games and are on a four-game losing streak following Friday’s 1-8 loss at home in Game 1 of the series against the Boston Red Sox.

The Pirates have been outscored by an average margin of 5 runs per game during their losing streak and have seen their record drop from 9-2 to 11-9 which is more in line with how they are projected to be this season. Pittsburgh entered Game 1 against Boston having won four straight games in the series, however, the Pirates saw their winning streak come to an end with the loss against the Red Sox on Friday but have won four of the last five meetings and have won by an average margin of .83 runs per game in those contests.

The Pittsburgh Pirates will look to end their four-game losing streak when they host the Boston Red Sox on Saturday afternoon.
