Boxing Betting Preview: Austin Williams vs. Steve Rolls
September 23, 2023
Austin Williams and Steve Rolls will compete for a scheduled 10 rounds in an upcoming middleweight showdown. Can Williams impress here to take a shot at the title soon?
Date: Saturday, September 23
Main card: 8:00 PM ET
Venue: Caribe Royale Orlando in Orlando, Florida
Austin Williams Betting Preview
Undefeated boxer “Ammo” Williams (14-0, 10KOs), originally from Milwaukee and now based in Houston, Texas, was supposed to be fighting England's Felix Cash. However, Cash has moved the battle multiple times to the point where Williams had to move on.
Williams, a 27-year-old southpaw, chose to face another prominent opponent to progress toward a title shot in his upcoming fights. This arguably sets him up better anyway, as he has a good opportunity to impress.
His most recent bout was an eighth-round knockout against River Wilson-Bent back in April of this year in London. This event was part of a DAZN telecast featuring Anthony Joshua's win over Jermaine Franklin, so he is used to fighting alongside other big names in the game.
He is currently ranked as the eighth best middleweight boxer in the world. This is a great opportunity to show off his skills and aim for a potential title fight down the line.
Steve Rolls Betting Preview
Canadian boxer Steve Rolls has an impressive record, consisting of 22 wins with 12 knockouts. He has only suffered defeats at the hands of Gennadiy Golovkin in June 2019 and then once again against unbeaten super middleweight Edgar Berlanga in March. Both of those fights occurred in Madison Square Garden and were above the 160-pound weight limit.
Rolls was able to bounce back from his loss to Berlanga with a victorious ten-round points win over Shady Gamhour in Toronto in July 2021. Each time after his defeat, he has arguably become a better fighter in the process.
He has a little bit more experience in terms of how many rounds he has been a part of, with 132 under his belt compared to 62 of Williams’. However, he will need everything he can in order to potentially claim a victory.
Game Odds, Series Trends and Free Pick
MyBookie has their odds heavily favoring Austin Williams to win here. If you are considering a wager on Williams, you should also consider adding him to a parlay with other bouts on the night to increase your potential payout.
Steve Rolls: +592
Austin Williams: -1428
Both fighters have had clear advantages in their fights where they overpowered their opponents. However, Williams appears to be the bigger threat here.
Market insights are projecting this fight to potentially go to a decision. But, Williams is a dominant force that could easily end this battle in the middle rounds by knockout.
Spooky Express Pick: Austin Williams Wins but we will pass at -1428
