Boxing Betting Preview: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois
August 26, 2023
Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois will face off in an intense heavyweight showdown as Usyk will be defending his belt. Can Dubois create one of the biggest upsets of the year?
Location: Tarczynski Arena in Wroclaw, Poland
Date: Saturday August 26, 2023
Main Card: 5:00 PM ET
Watch on: ESPN+
Oleksandr Usyk Betting Preview
Usyk has a perfect 20-0 resume heading into this battle. His most recent performance was a split decision against Anthony Joshua back in August of last year, which was his second straight win against him.
13 of his 20 victories have come by knockout, while the other seven are by decision. Six times in his career, he has ended the fight in rounds five through eight.
The last time he landed a knockout was against Chazz Witherspoon back in October 2019 in the seventh round, but he has a great opportunity to land another here. Dubois has shown that he is susceptible to being weakened on the chin.
It is easy to see why the odds are heavily in his favor, especially since he is regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the boxing world. He also has accumulated several titles such as the IBF World Heavy, IBO World Heavy, WBA Super World Heavy, and WBO World Heavy.
Daniel Dubois Betting Preview
Dubois is currently on a four-fight winning streak coming into this title bout. His most recent success was a TKO against Kevin Lerena back in December of last year.
18 of his 19 victories have resulted in a knockout and he has one loss by knockout. This defeat was back in 2020 against Joe Joyce.
“Dynamite” will be a threat early on in this fight, so expect a lot of pressure being created from him. He does not possess the same skill set as Usyk, but has tons of power to end it within a blink of an eye.
He is also going through new changes in coaching, so the training regime might be a bit different than what he has been accustomed to. Many are not giving him a puncher's chance, but it would be foolish to overlook his abilities.
Game Odds, Series Trends and Free Pick
The following moneyline from MyBookie is showing that Oleksandr Usyk is a heavy favorite to defend his title. You may consider adding Usyk to a parlay to help make the moneyline more appealing.
Daniel Dubois: +600
Oleksandr Usyk: -1000
*odds are subject to changes
Dubois will be aiming for the kill early, as this may be his only shot with landing a knockout. This will likely tire him out, which will set up the second half of the fight. This fight will potentially make it to the sixth round and Usyk will find a way to knock out Dubois.
Final Pick: Take Oleksandr Usyk to Win at -1000
