Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Miami Heat

March 24, 2024

A struggling Cleveland Cavaliers team will travel to Miami, Florida to face the Miami Heat at the Kaseya Center on Sunday evening with the game scheduled to start at 6:00 PM ET and will air on Bally Sports Ohio and the Sun Network.

Cleveland Cavaliers Team Preview

The Cleveland Cavaliers have the 3rd best record in the Eastern Conference, however, they have struggled this month as they have compiled a record of 5-7 while losing their last two games including Wednesday’s 104-107 loss against the Miami Heat at home.

The Cavaliers have lost by double-digits in four of the seven losses and are coming off a 13-point loss on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves by a score of 91-104. Cleveland has also only averaged 105.08 points per game this month, however, the Cavaliers have not been a high-scoring team this season as they rank 18th in the league in scoring with an average of 113.38 points per game and have relied more on their defensive efficiency as they are allowing the 5th fewest points per game with an average of 109.42 points per game while opponents are only shooting 45.68% on field goal attempts.

Cleveland has lost the last two games against the Miami Heat while the teams have been perfect on the road in the series this year which includes a 111-99 win on the road for the Cavaliers when they traveled to Miami earlier this season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will look to even the regular season series at 2-2 this season when they travel to face the Miami Heat.

Miami Heat Team Preview

The Miami Heat are still looking to avoid the play-in tournament for the 2024 NBA Playoffs as they enter this matchup with the 7th-best record in the NBA at 38-32 and trail the Indiana Pacers by 1.5 games for the 6-seed in the Eastern Conference.

Miami enters this game having won three of their last five games including a 107-104 win on the road against the Cleveland Cavaliers but is coming off a 23-point blowout loss on Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Cavaliers also suffered a double-digit loss at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier this season with a 99-111 loss in December.

The Miami Heat will look to avenge the loss earlier this season against the Cleveland Cavaliers at home and win the regular season series 3-1 when they host the Cavaliers on Sunday evening.

Odds and Series Trends

JustBet has the Miami Heat listed as 4-point favorites at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday evening. The road team has won the three previous meetings this season while also covering the spread in those contests including a 107-104 win on the road for the Miami Heat and a 2.5-point cover as an underdog against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.

Game Pick

Miami has won 65% of their games against the Cleveland Cavaliers when playing at home in the last 20 games in the series. The Cavaliers enter this game struggling in March as they have compiled a record of 5-7 this month with one of the losses coming at home against the Heat. Cleveland has also failed to cover the spread in 12 of the previous 18 games in the series against Miami. I look for those trends to continue which is why I am laying the points with the Miami Heat when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday evening.
