The San Jose State Spartans will travel to Lubbock, Texas to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Sunday afternoon at the United Supermarkets Arena with the game scheduled to start at 2:00 PM ET and will air on ESPN+.

San Jose State has started the season with a record of 2-0 with wins at home against the UC Irvine Anteaters by a score of 72-64 while covering the 3-point spread as a home underdog by winning the game outright and a win at home against the Bethesda Flames by a score of 117-72. The Spartans finished last season with a record of 21-14 which included a record of 10-8 in the Mountain West Conference which led to a 5^th place finish in the regular season. The San Jose State Spartans won in the Quarterfinals of the conference tournament against the Nevada Wolfpack before losing in the Semifinals against the San Diego State Aztecs by a score of 49-64. San Jose State was not invited to the NCAA tournament nor the NIT, however, they were invited to the CBI postseason tournament in which they defeated the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles in the 1^st round by a score of 77-52 before losing in the Quarterfinals against the Radford Highlanders by a score of 57-67.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have started the season off with a record of 1-0 with a win at home against the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions by a score of 73-46 while covering the 25-point spread as a home favorite. Following the 2021-22 college basketball season in which the Red Raiders made it to the Sweet 16, they followed the season up with a disappointing record of 16-16 and had a losing record in the Big 12 Conference with a record of 5-13 which led to a 9^th place finish in the conference. The Red Raiders were eliminated early in the conference tournament as they were eliminated by the West Virginia Mountaineers in the opening round by a score of 62-78 which was also Texas Tech’s 4^th loss in a row to finish the season. The Texas Red Raiders aren’t expected to do much this season as they are projected to be the 9^th best team in the Big 12.
