College Football Betting Preview: Alabama Crimson Tide vs. LSU Tigers

November 4, 2023

A pair of SEC West rivals will face each other in what will likely decide the SEC West Champion when the 14th-ranked LSU Tigers travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to face the 8th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday night with the game starting at 7:45 PM ET and airing nationally on CBS.

The LSU Tigers enter this game ranked 14th in the College Football Playoff rankings with a record of 6-2 following a 62-0 win at home against the Army Black Knights while covering the 33-point spread as a home favorite in week 8 of the college football season. LSU scored 62 points while compiling a total of 570 yards offensively which included 369 passing yards and 201 rushing yards while shutting out Army and allowing 193 total yards defensively which included 42 passing yards and 151 rushing yards.

Jayden Daniels led the team in passing, completing 11 of 15 targets for 279 yards and three touchdowns while adding six rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Trey Holly led the team in rushing with six carries for 91 yards and a touchdown. Brian Thomas Jr. led the team in receiving, catching all three targets for 122 yards and two touchdowns.

Alabama enters this game ranked 8th in the College Football Playoff rankings with a record of 7-1 following a 34-20 win at home against the Tennessee Volunteers while covering the 8.5-point spread as a home favorite in week 8 of the college football season. The Crimson Tide scored 34 points while compiling a total of 358 yards offensively which included 220 passing yards and 138 rushing yards while allowing 20 points and 404 total yards defensively which included 271 passing yards and 133 rushing yards.

Jalen Milroe led the team in passing, completing 14 of 21 attempts for 220 yards with two touchdowns and an interception while adding three rushing yards. Jase McClellan led the team in rushing with 27 carries for 115 yards and a touchdown while adding a reception for six yards. Isaiah Bond led the team in receiving, catching three of four targets for 77 yards and a touchdown.

BookMaker has the Alabama Crimson Tide listed as 3-point favorites at home against the LSU Tigers on Saturday night in week 10 of the college football season. Alabama has won eight of the last ten and two of the last three meetings in the series. The Crimson Tide are 5-4-1 ATS in the last ten while the Tigers are 2-1 ATS in the last three matchups. The LSU Tigers are 5-3 ATS overall, 2-1 ATS on the road, and 3-2 ATS in conference games this season while the Alabama Crimson Tide are 5-3 ATS overall, 3-2 ATS at home, 5-3 ATS as a favorite, and 4-1 ATS in conference games on the year.

If Alabama wins this game they will likely be going to the SEC Championship game as this is their toughest opponent left this season and they have dominated the series, winning eight of the last ten and two of the last three games. The Crimson Tide have also been one of the best teams at covering the spread in their conference games going 4-1 ATS in conference play which is why I am laying the points when the Alabama Crimson Tide host the LSU Tigers on Saturday night.
