College Football Betting Preview: Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Texas Longhorns
September 9, 2023
This matchup features two teams ranked in the Top 25 when the Texas Longhorns travel to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide and if last year’s game is any indication of what to expect this season this will be an exciting game. Which team will come away with the win in week 2 of the college football season? Let’s take a closer look at how these teams are faring this season.
The Texas Longhorns won in week 1 of the college football season at home against the Rice Owls by a score of 37-10, however, the Longhorns failed to cover the 35.5-point as a home favorite. Texas scored 37 points while compiling a total of 458 total yards offensively which included 300 passing yards and 158 rushing yards while allowing 10 points and 176 total yards defensively which included 149 passing yards and 27 rushing yards.
Quinn Ewers led the team in passing, completing 19 of 30 attempts for 260 yards and three touchdowns while adding 12 rushing yards and a touchdown on eight attempts. Jaydon Blue led the team in rushing with ten carries for 55 yards. Xavier Worthy led the team in receiving, catching seven of ten targets for 90 yards.
Alabama started the season off strong with a 56-7 win at home against the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders while covering the 39.5-point spread as a favorite at home. The Crimson Tide scored 56 points while compiling 431 total yards offensively which included 226 passing yards and 205 rushing yards while allowing 7 points while allowing 211 total yards which included 133 passing yards and 78 rushing yards.
Jalen Milroe led the team in passing, completing 13 of 18 attempts for 194 yards and three touchdowns while also leading the team in rushing with seven attempts for 48 yards and two touchdowns. Isaiah Bond led the team in receiving, catching five of six targets for 76 yards and one touchdown.
BookMaker has the Alabama Crimson Tide listed as 7.5-point favorites at home against the Texas Longhorns on Saturday evening in week 2 of the college football season. Alabama is 2-0 all-time in the series and has won by an average score of 28.5 to 20 while both teams are 1-1 ATS in those matchups.
The Texas Longhorns are 0-1 ATS overall this season after finishing last season with a record of 8-5 ATS overall, 2-2 ATS on the road, and 1-0 ATS as an underdog while the Alabama Crimson Tide are 1-0 ATS overall, 1-0 ATS at home, and 1-0 ATS as a favorite after finishing last season with a record of 6-6-1 ATS overall, 4-2-1 ATS at home, and 6-6-1 ATS as a favorite.
Both teams are National Champion caliber teams and should finish near the top of their conference this season. However, I am buying into Alabama with Jalen Milroe at quarterback after his week 1 performance as well as the defensive performance the Crimson Tide had which is why I will be buying the .5 point and taking the Alabama Crimson Tide -7 at home against the Texas Longhorns in week 2 of the college football season on BookMaker.
Spooky Express Pick: Alabama Crimson Tide -7
