College Football Betting Preview: Auburn Tigers vs. LSU Tigers
October 14, 2023
A pair of SEC West rivals will face off against each other on ESPN Saturday night when the Auburn Tigers travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to square off against the 22
nd
-ranked LSU Tigers at Tiger Stadium at 7:00 PM ET in week 7 of the college football season.
The Auburn Tigers enter this game with a record of 3-2 following a 20-27 loss at home against the Georgia Bulldogs while covering the 14-point spread as a home underdog in week 5 of the college football season. Auburn scored 20 points while compiling a total of 307 yards offensively which included 88 passing yards and 219 rushing yards while allowing 27 points and 425 total yards defensively which included 318 passing yards and 107 rushing yards. Payton Thorne led the team in passing, completing 10 of 19 attempts for 82 yards and an interception while also leading the team in rushing with 92 yards on 12 attempts. Rivaldo Fairweather led the team in receiving, catching four of seven targets for 44 yards.
LSU enters this game ranked 22
nd
in the AP Poll and 20
th
in the Coaches Poll with a record of 4-2 following a 49-39 win on the road against the Missouri Tigers while covering the 6-point spread as a road favorite in week 6 of the college football season. The Tigers scored 49 points while compiling a total of 533 yards offensively which included 259 passing yards and 274 rushing yards while allowing 39 points and 511 total yards defensively which included 395 passing yards and 116 rushing yards. Jayden Daniels led the team in passing, completing 15 of 21 attempts for 259 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 130 yards and a touchdown. Logan Diggs led the team in rushing with 24 carries for 134 yards and a touchdown. Malik Nabers led the team in receiving, catching six of ten targets for 146 yards and a touchdown.
BookMaker has the LSU Tigers listed as 11-point favorites at home against the Auburn Tigers on Saturday evening in week 7 of the college football season. LSU has won six of the last ten while Auburn has won two of the last three meetings while going 7-3 ATS in the last ten and 3-0 ATS in the last three games in the series. Auburn is 2-3 ATS overall, 0-2 ATS on the road, 1-1 ATS as an underdog, and 1-1 ATS in conference games this season while the LSU Tigers are 3-3 ATS overall, 1-1 ATS at home, 3-3 ATS as a favorite, and 2-2 ATS in conference games on the year.
Auburn is an improved team this season, however, they are still less talented than the LSU Tigers. However, in a rivalry all things go out the window and the Auburn Tigers have been the better team most recently in the series winning two of the last three meetings, and have been the dominant team at covering the spread going 7-3 ATS in the last ten and have covered the previous four matchups in the series I look for the Auburn Tigers to extend that to five games in a row when they cover with the 11 points on the road against the LSU Tigers on Saturday evening.
Spooky Express Pick: Auburn Tigers +11
