College Football Betting Preview: Auburn Tigers vs. Ole Miss Rebels
October 21, 2023
A pair of SEC West rivals will face off against each other in week 8 of the college football season when the 13
-ranked Ole Miss Rebels travel to Auburn, Alabama to face the Auburn Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium with the game airing at 7:00 PM ET on Saturday evening on ESPN.
The Ole Miss Rebels enter this game ranked 13
in the AP Poll and 12
in the Coaches Poll with a record of 5-1 following a 27-20 win at home against the Arkansas Razorbacks while failing to cover the 13-point spread as a home favorite in week 6 of the college football season. Ole Miss scored 27 points while compiling a total of 347 yards offensively which included 153 passing yards and 194 rushing yards while allowing 20 points and 288 total yards defensively which included 252 passing yards and 36 rushing yards. Jaxson Dart led the team in passing, completing 16 of 25 attempts for 153 yards and a touchdown while adding 31 rushing yards on 11 attempts. Ulysses Bentley IV led the team in rushing with 13 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Watkins led the team in receiving, catching seven of eight targets for 86 yards.
Auburn enters this game with a record of 3-3 following an 18-48 loss on the road against the LSU Tigers while failing to cover the 11-point spread as a road underdog in week 7 of the college football season. The Tigers scored 18 points while compiling a total of 293 yards offensively which included 154 passing yards and 139 rushing yards while allowing 48 points and 563 total yards defensively which included 325 passing yards and 238 rushing yards. Payton Thorne led the team in passing, completing 12 of 23 attempts for 102 yards while rushing for 27 yards on five attempts. Jeremiah Cobb led the team in rushing with ten carries for 69 yards while adding a reception for six yards. Brandon Frazier led the team in receiving, catching three of four targets for 52 yards and a touchdown.
BookMaker has the Ole Miss Rebels listed as 6.5-point favorites on the road against the Auburn Tigers on Saturday evening in week 8 of the college football season. Auburn has won eight of the last ten and two of the last three games in the series while going 7-2-1 ATS in the last ten and 3-0 ATS in the last three meetings. Ole Miss is 4-2 ATS overall, 1-1 ATS on the road, 3-1 ATS as a favorite, and 1-2 ATS in conference games this season while the Auburn Tigers are 2-4 ATS overall, 2-1 ATS at home, 1-2 ATS as an underdog, and 1-2 ATS in conference games on the year.
Ole Miss enters this game with a better record, however, they have struggled in the series against Auburn having only won two of the last ten games in the series and Auburn has dominated the series at covering the spread going 7-2-1 ATS in the last ten and 3-0 ATS in the last three meetings. I look for them to make it four in a row at covering the spread on Saturday evening when they host the Ole Miss Rebels. Buy the .5 point and take the Auburn Tigers +7 in week 8 of the college football season.
Spooky Express Pick: Auburn Tigers +7
