College Football Betting Preview: FAU Owls vs. Tulane Green Wave
November 18, 2023
The 24
th
-ranked Tulane Green Wave will travel to Boca Raton, Florida to face the Florida Atlantic Owls in an AAC battle on Saturday afternoon at FAU Stadium with the game kicking off at 12:00 PM ET and will air on ESPN+ in week 12 of the college football season.
Tulane is the highest non-Power 5 team in the College Football Playoff Rankings as they enter this game ranked 24
th
which follows up last season in which they finished with a record of 12-2 and defeated the USC Trojans by a score of 46-45 in the Cotton Bowl. The lone loss for the Tulane Green Wave came against the Ole Miss Rebels and since that loss, the Green Wave have gone on an eight-game winning streak which includes a 24-22 win at home against the Tulsa Hurricanes last week. However, Tulane is still not a lock to make it to the AAC Championship game as they are in a three-way tie for 1
st
place in the conference with the SMU Mustangs and UTSA Roadrunners, however, with a win this week and a win against UTSA next week they will be in the championship game.
The Florida Atlantic Owls were one of the top teams in the conference when Lane Kiffin was the head coach, however, since his departure the Owls have compiled a record of 19-24 which includes a record of 4-6 this season and are 3-3 in conference play which puts them in a tie for 5
th
place in the conference. Florida Atlantic will need to win its final two games this season and will likely come down to this game as they should be a favorite next week against the Rice Owls. However, the Owls are on a two-game losing streak and are coming off a disappointing loss at home against the East Carolina Pirates last week by a score of 7-22. Things won’t be any easier this week as they will host the Tulane Green Wave, who are also one of the top teams in the AAC.
BookMaker has the Tulane Green Wave listed as 9.5-point favorites on the road against the Florida Atlantic Owls on Saturday afternoon in week 12 of the college football season. Florida Atlantic won the only other time these teams have faced each other which came in 2013 and resulted in a 34-17 win and a 3-point cover as a home favorite for the Owls. The Tulane Green Wave are 3-7 ATS overall, 2-2 ATS on the road, 3-6 ATS as a favorite, and 1-5 ATS in conference games this season while the Florida Atlantic Owls are 4-6 ATS overall, 1-4 ATS at home, 2-3 ATS as an underdog, and 3-3 ATS in conference games on the year.
The Tulane Green Wave may be one of the best teams in the AAC this season, however, they have been the worst team at covering the spread as they enter this game with a record of 3-7 ATS overall and 1-5 ATS in conference games. The Owls aren’t much better, however, they are .500 at covering the spread in their conference games with a record of 3-3 ATS. As a result, I am buying the .5 point and taking the points with the Florida Atlantic Owls at home.
Spooky Express Pick: Florida Atlantic Owls +10
