College Football Betting Preview: Florida Gators vs. Missouri Tigers

November 18, 2023

Two SEC East Teams will square off in the primetime game on ESPN in week 12 of the college football season when the Florida Gators travel to Columbia, Missouri to face the 9th-ranked Missouri Tigers at Memorial Stadium at Faurot Field with the game scheduled to kick off at 7:30 PM ET on Saturday evening.

Billy Napier is likely to be fired at the end of the season as the Florida Gators enter this game with a record of 5-5 and need to win one of their next two games, however, they will be double-digit underdogs in both matchups including this week against the Missouri Tigers. With a loss in this game, the Florida Gators will finish with a losing record in the SEC for the 3rd consecutive year while Napier has a record of 6-9 in conference play as the head coach of the Florida Gators. Florida has made a bowl game in each of the last five seasons, but that streak is likely to come to an end this season and Napier will be fired for that reason. The Gators have been above-average as a scoring team this season as they enter this game averaging 29.5 points per game, however, they have a below-average scoring defense that is allowing an average of 27.4 points per game and things won’t get any easier this week when they face one of the best teams in the SEC this season when they travel to face the Missouri Tigers on Saturday evening.

The Missouri Tigers aren’t going to win the SEC East this season, as the Georgia Bulldogs have already won the division, however, the Tigers are having one of their best seasons in the SEC and will finish in 2nd place in the SEC East as they enter this game with a record of 8-2 which includes a 4-2 record in the SEC and are coming off an impressive 36-7 win at home against the Tennessee Volunteers, who were ranked 13th in the nation entering the game. Missouri’s success this season can be attributed to their explosive offense and passing game as Brady Cook enters this game having completed 200 of 294 attempts for 2,739 yards with 17 touchdowns and six interceptions while the Tigers are averaging 32.8 points per game and will be going against a below-average scoring defense this week when they host the Florida Gators in week 12 of the college football season.

BookMaker has the Missouri Tigers listed as 11-point favorites at home against the Florida Gators on Saturday evening in week 12 of the college football season. The teams are 5-5 in the last ten meetings while Florida has won two of the last three matchups. The Tigers are 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Florida Gators are 3-7 ATS overall, 1-3 ATS on the road, 1-4 ATS as an underdog, and 3-4 ATS in conference games this season while the Missouri Tigers are 7-3 ATS overall, 3-3 ATS at home, 3-2 ATS as a favorite, and 5-1 ATS in conference games on the year.

Missouri is the better team this season and has been the better team at covering the spread in the series going 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 2-1 ATS in the last three meetings. The Tigers have also been one of the best teams in the SEC at covering the spread as they are 7-3 ATS overall and 5-1 ATS in conference games while the Gators are 3-7 ATS overall which is why I am laying the points with the Missouri Tigers.
