College Football Betting Preview: Georgia Bulldogs vs. Tennessee Vols

November 18, 2023

A pair of SEC East rivals will meet on Saturday afternoon when the 2nd-ranked Georgia Bulldogs travel to Knoxville, Tennessee to face the Tennessee Volunteers at Neyland Stadium the game is scheduled to start at 3:30 PM ET and will air nationally on CBS in week 12 of the college football season.

The Georgia Bulldogs have already locked up the SEC East Division championship this season after Tennessee lost last week to the Missouri Tigers and will face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game in December. The Bulldogs are on the road to a three-peat as National Champions of college football after winning the last two National Championships and have not lost a game in their previous 26 games which includes last week’s impressive win at home against the Ole Miss Rebels by a score of 52-17 and have been one of the best teams offensively and defensively this season as they enter this game averaging the 6th most points per game with an average of 40.6 points per game while allowing the 5th fewest points per game with an average of 15.6 points per game which means they have outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points per game this season which is one of the widest margins of victory on average in college football.

Tennessee had a chance to make it to the SEC Championship game if they had defeated Missouri last week and Georgia this week, however, they suffered a blowout loss on the road against the Missouri Tigers by a score of 7-36 which puts them in 3rd place in the SEC East with a record of 7-3 which includes a record of 3-3 in the SEC and the Volunteers have not defeated a Top 25 team this season as they lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide by a score of 20-34 and the Missouri Tigers last week. The Volunteers looked outmatched against the Tigers in last week’s game as they were outgained by the Tigers 350 to 530 total yards offensively and were -1 in the turnover battle. Things won’t get any easier as the Tennessee Volunteers will be facing one of the best teams in college football this season in week 12 when they host the Georgia Bulldogs.

BookMaker has the Georgia Bulldogs listed as 10-point favorites on the road against the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday afternoon in week 12 of the college football season. Georgia has won eight of the last ten including the previous six meetings while going 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 3-0 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Georgia Bulldogs are 3-6-1 ATS overall, 0-2 ATS on the road, 3-6-1 ATS as a favorite, and 3-4 ATS in conference games this season while the Tennessee Volunteers are 6-4 ATS overall, 4-1 ATS at home, 0-1 ATS as an underdog, and 3-3 ATS in conference games on the year.

Georgia has dominated the series, winning eight of the last ten and the last six meetings in a row. However, Tennessee has been the better team at covering the spread this season going 6-4 ATS overall and 4-1 ATS at home while the Bulldogs are 3-6-1 ATS overall and 0-2 ATS on the road. As a result, I am taking the points with the Tennessee Volunteers when they host the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon.
