College Football Betting Preview: Kentucky Wildcats vs. Missouri Tigers

October 14, 2023

A pair of 5-1 SEC East teams will take the primetime slot on the SEC Network on Saturday night at 7:30 PM ET when the Missouri Tigers travel to Lexington, Kentucky to face off against the 24th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats at Kroger Field in week 7 of the college football season.

The Missouri Tigers enter this game with a record of 5-1 following a 39-49 loss at home against the LSU Tigers while failing to cover the 6-point spread as a home underdog in week 6 of the college football season. Missouri scored 39 points while compiling a total of 511 yards offensively which included 395 passing yards and 116 rushing yards while allowing 49 points and 533 total yards defensively which included 259 passing yards and 274 rushing yards. Brady Cook led the team in passing, completing 30 of 47 attempts for 395 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Cody Schrader led the team in rushing with 13 carries for 114 yards and three touchdowns while adding two receptions for 11 yards. Luther Burden III led the team in receiving, catching 11 of 19 targets for 149 yards.

Kentucky enters this game ranked 24th in the AP Poll and 23rd in the Coaches Poll with a record of 5-1 following a 13-51 loss on the road against the Georgia Bulldogs while failing to cover the 14.5-point spread as a road underdog in week 6 of the college football season. The Wildcats scored 13 points while compiling a total of 183 yards offensively which included 128 passing yards and 55 rushing yards while allowing 51 points and 608 total yards defensively which included 435 passing yards and 173 rushing yards. Devin Leary led the team in passing, completing 10 of 26 attempts for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Ray Davis led the team in rushing with 15 carries for 59 yards while adding two receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown. Dane Key led the team in receiving, catching three of six targets for 65 yards.

BookMaker has the Kentucky Wildcats listed as 2.5-point favorites at home against the Missouri Tigers on Saturday night in week 7 of the college football season. Kentucky has won seven of the last ten and two of the last three games in the series while going 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 2-1 ATS in the last three meetings. Missouri is 3-3 ATS overall, 1-0 ATS on the road, 1-1 ATS as an underdog, and 1-1 ATS in conference games this season while the Kentucky Wildcats are 4-2 ATS overall, 3-1 ATS at home, 4-1 ATS as a favorite, and 2-1 ATS in conference games on the year.

Both teams will be looking to rebound from their first loss of the season while Kentucky got humiliated last week against the Georgia Bulldogs, the Bulldogs are still considered by many to be the best team in college football this season. The Wildcats have been the dominant team in the series having won seven of the last ten meetings including two of the previous three. I look for Kentucky to bounce back after last week’s embarrassing loss with a win at home against the Missouri Tigers which is why I will be taking the moneyline for the Kentucky Wildcats at -127 on Saturday evening.
