College Football Betting Preview: Missouri Tigers vs. Tennessee Vols

November 11, 2023

A pair of SEC East rivals will face each other in week 11 of the college football season when the 13th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers travel to Columbia, Missouri to face the 14th-ranked Missouri Tigers at Memorial Stadium at Faurot Field on Saturday afternoon with the game airing nationally on CBS.

The Tennessee Volunteers still have an outside chance of making it to the SEC Championship game if they can win their remaining games and if Georgia loses to Ole Miss on Saturday as the Volunteers still have to play the Georgia Bulldogs at home next weekend. Tennessee enters this game on a two-game winning streak following a blowout win at home last week against the UConn Huskies by a score of 59-3 which improved their record to 7-2 this season which includes a record of 3-2 in the SEC and puts them in a tie for 2nd place in the SEC East division with the Missouri Tigers who they face on Saturday afternoon with the winner taking sole possession of 2nd place, however, Tennessee is the only one that could still make it to the SEC Championship game as Missouri has already lost against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Missouri has had its best season in recent memory and although they aren’t going to make it to the SEC Championship game this season following last week’s 21-30 loss on the road against the Georgia Bulldogs they will have a chance to finish with a 10-win regular season this year if they can win their remaining games as they enter this game with an overall record of 7-2 and a record of 3-2 in the SEC. Missouri’s offense has played a pivotal role in the success they have had this season as they are averaging 32.44 points per game which is above the average of 28.06 points per game for the rest of college football. Brady Cook has also played a key role in the offense as he has completed 182 of 270 attempts for 2,464 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interruptions and will look to continue his success this season when the Missouri Tigers host the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday afternoon.

BookMaker has the Tennessee Volunteers listed as 3-point favorites on the road against the Missouri Tigers on Saturday afternoon in week 11 of the college football season. Tennessee has won six of the last ten including the previous four meetings while going 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 3-0 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Tennessee Volunteers are 6-3 ATS overall, 1-2 ATS on the road, 6-2 ATS as a favorite, and 3-2 ATS in conference games this season while the Missouri Tigers are 6-3 ATS overall, 2-3 ATS at home, 3-1 ATS as an underdog, and 4-1 ATS in conference games on the year.

Both teams enter this game with identical records, however, Tennessee has been the better team in the series, winning the last four meetings while going 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 3-0 ATS in the last three contests. I look for those trends to continue in this matchup which is why I am laying the points with the Tennessee Volunteers when they travel to face the Missouri Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
