College Football Betting Preview: N. Carolina Tar Heels vs. N. Carolina St Wolfpack

November 25, 2023

Two in-state rivals in the ACC will square off on Saturday night in week 13 of the college football season when the North Carolina Tar Heels travel to Raleigh, North Carolina to face the 22nd-ranked North Carolina State Wolfpack at Carter-Finley Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 8:00 PM ET and the game will air on the ACC Network.

North Carolina started the season with a record of 6-0, however, since that start they have lost three of their last five games including last week’s 20-31 loss on the road against the Clemson Tigers. The Tar Heels enter this game with a record of 8-3 and have a conference record of 4-3 which puts them in 5th place in the conference. The offense has been one of the highest-scoring offenses in college football while Drake Maye continues to impress in his 2nd season as the starting quarterback for the Tar Heels as they enter this game averaging 38.09 points per game which ranks 13th in college football and North Carolina is averaging the 9th most passing yards per game with an average of 300.18 passing yards per game. Drake Maye has played a pivotal role in the success of the passing offense for the North Carolina Tar Heels as he enters this game having completed 247 of 387 attempts for 3,354 yards with 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions while adding 343 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.

The North Carolina State Wolfpack have been an underrated team this season as they enter this game ranked 22nd in the College Football Playoff rankings with a record of 8-3 which includes a record of 5-2 in the ACC which puts them in 3rd place in the ACC and are on a four-game winning streak following a 35-28 win on the road against the Virginia Tech Hokies. The defense for the Wolfpack had been one of the reasons for their four-game winning streak as they are allowing an average of 14.25 points per game during their win streak and have allowed an average of 20.18 points per game this season. However, they will be facing one of the highest-scoring teams this season when they host their in-state rivals, the North Carolina Tar Heels, on Saturday night.

BookMaker has the North Carolina Tar Heels listed as 2.5-point favorites on the road against the North Carolina State Wolfpacks on Saturday night in week 13 of the college football season. North Carolina State has won six of the last ten and two of the last three games in the series. The Tar Heels are 7-3 ATS in the last ten and 2-1 ATS in the last three meetings. The North Carolina Tar Heels are 6-5 ATS overall, 1-2 ATS on the road, 6-4 ATS as a favorite, and 3-4 ATS in conference games this season while the North Carolina State Wolfpack are 6-5 ATS overall, 4-2 ATS at home, 4-2 ATS as an underdog, and 5-2 ATS in conference games on the year.

North Carolina State has been the better team in the series, winning six of the last ten and two of the last three meetings. The Wolfpack have also been one of the best teams in covering the spread in conference games as they are 5-2 ATS in conference games while the Tar Heels are 3-4 ATS in conference games while going 1-2 ATS on the road which is why I am buying the .5 point and taking the points with the North Carolina State Wolfpack in this ACC matchup on Saturday night.
