Two teams from the AAC will square off on Friday night when the North Texas Mean Green travel to Dallas, Texas to face the SMU Mustangs at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in week 11 of the college football season with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 PM ET and will air on ESPN 2.

The North Texas Mean Green are still alive for a bowl game, however, they have to win out as they enter this game with a record of 3-6 and are on a three-game losing streak following a 29-37 loss at home against the UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday which dropped their record in the AAC to 1-4 and puts them in a tie for 11^th place in the conference. Despite reflecting a close game, the game was never in question as the UTSA Roadrunner had a 30-13 lead heading into the 4^th quarter. The Mean Green outgained the Roadrunners 459 to 421 total yards offensively, however, the turnovers killed any hope that North Texas had to win the game as they were -3 in the turnover department in the loss against UTSA. 

SMU has been one of the best teams in the AAC this season and is in a three-way tie for 1^st place in the conference along with Tulane and UTSA as all three teams are 5-0 in conference play. The Mustangs have the easiest track to the AAC Championship game as they will avoid playing Tulane and UTSA in the regular season while Tulane and UTSA end the regular season playing each other. The SMU Mustangs have a record of 7-2 overall and enter this game riding a five-game winning streak following last week’s 36-31 win on the road against the Rice Owls. The Mustangs are averaging 45 points per game in conference play this season with Preston Stone playing a pivotal part in the success that SMU has had this season as he enters this game having completed 166 of 282 attempts for 2,362 yards with 21 touchdowns and five interceptions with a quarterback rating of 150.3 while adding 199 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.

BookMaker has the SMU Mustangs listed as 17-point favorites at home against the North Texas Mean Green on Friday night in week 11 of the college football season. SMU has won eight of the last ten including the previous four matchups in a row while going 8-2 ATS in the last ten and 4-0 ATS in the last four games in the series. The North Texas Mean Green are 6-3 ATS overall, 3-1 ATS on the road, 5-1 ATS as an underdog, and 5-0 ATS in conference games this season while the SMU Mustangs are 5-4 ATS overall, 3-1 ATS at home, 5-2 ATS as a favorite, and 3-2 ATS as a favorite on the year.

Despite being one of the worst teams in the conference this season, the North Texas Mean Green have been one of the best teams in the conference at covering the spread going 6-3 ATS overall, and have covered the spread in every conference game this season going 5-0 ATS in conference play. SMU will get the win, however, I am taking the points with the North Texas Mean Green on Friday night.
