October 14, 2023

The 3rd ranked Ohio State Buckeyes will travel to West Lafayette, Indiana to take on the Indiana Hoosiers at Ross-Ade Stadium at 12:00 PM on the Peacock Network in week 7 of the college football season on Saturday afternoon.

The Ohio State Buckeyes enter this game ranked 3rd in the AP Poll and 3rd in the Coaches Poll with a record of 5-0 following a 37-17 win at home against the Maryland Terrapins while covering the 17-point spread as a home favorite in week 6 of the college football season. Ohio State scored 37 points while compiling a total of 382 yards offensively which included 320 passing yards and 62 rushing yards while allowing 17 points and compiling a total of 298 yards defensively which included 192 passing yards and 106 rushing yards. Kyle McCord led the team in passing, completing 19 of 29 attempts for 320 yards and two touchdowns. Chip Trayanum led the team in rushing with 20 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown. Marvin Harrison Jr. led the team in receiving, catching eight of 13 targets for 163 yards and a touchdown.

Purdue enters this game with a record of 2-4 following a 14-20 loss on the road against the Iowa Hawkeyes while failing to cover the 2.5-point spread as a road underdog in week 6 of the college football season. The Boilermakers scored 14 points while compiling a total of 344 yards offensively which included 247 passing yards and 97 rushing yards while allowing 20 points and 291 total yards defensively which included 110 passing yards and 181 rushing yards. Hudson Card led the team in passing, completing 25 of 40 attempts for 247 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Devin Mockobee led the team in rushing with 20 carries for 89 yards and a touchdown while adding three receptions for 36 yards. TJ Sheffield led the team in receiving, catching six of nine targets for 92 yards and a touchdown.

BookMaker has the Ohio State Buckeyes listed as 19.5-point favorites on the road against the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday afternoon in week 7 of the college football season. Ohio State has won six of the last ten and two of the last three games in the series while going 2-1 ATS in the previous three contests. The Buckeyes are 2-2-1 ATS overall, 0-1-1 ATS on the road, 2-2-1 ATS as a favorite, and 1-1 ATS in conference games this season while the Purdue Boilermakers are 2-4 ATS overall, 1-3 ATS at home, 2-3 ATS as an underdog, and 1-2 ATS in conference games on the year.

Even though the Buckeyes are the more talented team this series has been tightly contested with Ohio State winning six of the last ten and two of the last three games in the series. However, Ohio State has been the better team at covering the spread most recently in the series by covering the spread in two of the last three meetings while also having been the better team at covering the spread this year going 2-2-1 ATS overall while Purdue is 2-4 ATS overall. I look for those trends to continue in this matchup which is why I am buying the .5 point and taking the Ohio State Buckeyes -19 on the road against the Purdue Boilermakers.

Spooky Express Pick: Ohio State Buckeyes -19
