College Football Betting Preview: Oregon St Beavers vs. Stanford Cardinal

November 11, 2023

The Stanford Cardinal will travel to Corvallis, Oregon to face the 12th-ranked Oregon State Beavers at Reser Stadium on Saturday evening in week 11 of the college football season with the game scheduled to start at 5:30 PM ET and will air on the Pac-12 Network.

Stanford has been one of the worst teams in the Pac-12 this season, however, if they can win their remaining three games this season they will qualify for a bowl game. However, two of their remaining games are against Top 25 teams including this week’s game on the road against the Oregon State Beavers and the season finale at home against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Cardinal ended their two-game losing streak in a low-scoring affair on the road against the Washington State Cougars while covering the 14-point spread as a road underdog by winning the game outright. The reason the Cardinal have struggled this season is the inconsistency they have had on both sides of the ball as they are below average in points per game and scoring defense as they are allowing an average of 21.33 points per game while allowing an average of 34.11 points per game and things will not get any easier this week when they travel to face one of the best teams in the Pac-12 in the Oregon State Beavers.

The Oregon State Beavers are still alive for a spot in the Pac-12 Championship game if they can win out including the season finale against the rival, the Oregon Ducks, then they will be able to play for the Pac-12 Championship as they enter this game with a record of 7-2 and are in a tie for 3rd place in the conference with a record of 4-2 in conference games, however, their final two games of the season will come against the Washington Huskies and Oregon Ducks who are in 1st and 2nd place in the conference. The Beavers enter this game following a 26-19 win on the road against the Colorado Buffaloes and their offense continues to be one of the better offenses in the conference as they are averaging 35.22 points per game on the year. The offense should have no problem moving the ball again this week as they face a defense that is allowing an average of 34.11 points per game when they host the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday evening.

BookMaker has the Oregon State Beavers listed as 21-point favorites at home against the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday evening in week 11 of the college football season. Stanford has won eight of the last ten while Oregon State has won two of the last three meetings. The Cardinal are 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Stanford Cardinal are 5-4 ATS overall, 3-1 ATS on the road, 4-3 ATS as an underdog, and 4-3 ATS in conference games this season while the Oregon State Beavers are 5-4 ATS overall, 3-1 ATS at home, 5-4 ATS as a favorite, and 3-3 ATS in conference games on the year.

Oregon State is the more talented team this season, however, Stanford has been the better team in the series, winning eight of the last ten games while also being the better team at covering the spread in the series going 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 2-1 ATS in the last three matchups. I look for the Beavers to get the win, however, 21 points is a lot to give up against a team that has fared better over the last ten games in the series which is why I am taking the points with the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday evening against the Oregon State Beavers.
