The South Alabama Jaguars finished last season with their best record in school history with an overall record of 10-3 and a record of 7-1 in the Sun Belt which led to a tie for 1^st place in the West Division of the Sun Belt, however, the Jaguars lost the tiebreaker to the Troy Trojans as their lone conference came against the Trojans by a score of 6-10 and an appearance in the New Orleans Bowl against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers which resulted in 23-44 loss.
