A pair of Sun Belt teams will face each other on Thursday evening in week 11 of the college football season when the Southern Miss Golden Eagles travel to Lafayette, Louisiana to face the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns at Cajun Field with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 PM ET and the game will air on ESPNU.

Southern Miss has been one of the worst teams in the Sun Belt this season as they only have two wins with a record of 2-7 including a Sun Belt record of 1-5, however, they finally ended their seven-game losing streak last week when they defeated the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks by a score of 24-7 which means they will not finish in last place in the West Division of the Sun Belt Conference after defeating the Warhawks. However, the Golden Eagles will not make a bowl game this season as they already have seven losses which is somewhat surprising as they finished last season with a record of 7-6 which included a win in the Lending Tree Bowl against the Rice Owls.

The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns are one win away from qualifying for a bowl game for the 6^th consecutive season and given that this game is against one of the worst teams in the conference it would be a smart bet that they end up qualifying for a bowl game after this contest. However, Louisiana has lost three of their last five games to bring their record to 5-4 and giving them a 2-3 record in conference play following last week’s 17-37 loss on the road against the Arkansas State Red Wolves on the road while also failing to cover the 7-point spread as a road favorite. The defense struggled in the loss allowing 37 points and 426 total yards defensively in the matchup, however, they will be facing one of the lowest-scoring teams in the conference this week when they host the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
