The 25
th
-ranked UCLA Bruins will travel to Stanford, California to face the Stanford Cardinal at Stanford Stadium on Saturday night at 10:30 PM ET with the game airing nationally on ESPN in week 8 of the college football season.
The UCLA Bruins enter this game ranked 25
th
in the AP Poll and 25
th
in the Coaches Poll with a record of 4-2 following a 24-36 loss on the road against the Oregon State Beavers while failing to cover the 3.5-point spread as a road underdog in week 7 of the college football season. UCLA scored 24 points while compiling a total of 453 yards offensively which included 169 passing yards and 284 rushing yards while allowing 36 points and 416 total yards defensively which included 282 passing yards and 134 rushing yards. Dante Moore led the team in passing, completing 15 of 34 attempts for 168 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions while rushing for 15 yards. Carson Steele led the team in rushing with 22 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown. Logan Loya led the team in receiving, catching five of ten targets for 48 yards and a touchdown.
Stanford enters this game with a record of 2-4 following a 46-43 double-overtime win on the road against the Colorado Buffaloes while covering the 13.5-point spread by winning the game outright in week 7 of the college football season. The Cardinal scored 46 points while compiling a total of 524 yards offensively which included 400 passing yards and 124 rushing yards while allowing 43 points and 532 total yards defensively which included 400 passing yards and 132 rushing yards. Ashton Daniels led the team in passing, completing 27 of 45 attempts for 397 yards and four touchdowns while also leading the team in rushing with 39 yards off of 16 attempts. Epic Ayomanor led the team in receiving, catching 13 of 18 targets for 295 yards and three touchdowns.
BookMaker has the UCLA Bruins listed as 17.5-point favorites on the road against the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday night in week 8 of the college football season. Stanford has won seven of the last ten while UCLA has won two of the last three meetings. The Cardinal are 6-3-1 ATS in the last ten while the Bruins are 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. UCLA is 3-3 ATS overall, 1-2 ATS on the road, 3-1 ATS as a favorite, and 1-2 ATS in conference games while the Stanford Cardinal are 3-3 ATS overall, 1-2 ATS at home, 2-2 ATS as an underdog, and 2-2 ATS in conference games on the year.
UCLA is the better team this season, however, Stanford has been the better team in the series winning seven of the last ten while going 6-3-1 ATS in those meetings. I don’t look for the Cardinal to get the win in this matchup, however, as strong as they have been in the series I will be buying the .5 point and taking the Stanford Cardinals with the points when they host the UCLA Bruins on Saturday night.
Spooky Express Pick: Stanford Cardinal +18
