After an absolutely devastating loss to the Texas State Bobcats, the Baylor Bears will now host the number 14 team in the country in the Utah Utes! This game is slated to take place on Saturday afternoon at 12:00 PM in Waco, Texas.  

The Utah Utes started the 2023 college football season off with a win by defeating the Florida Gators at home in week 1 of the college football season by a score of 24-11 and covering the spread as a 5.5-point favorite. The Utes scored 24 points while compiling 270 total yards offensively which included 165 passing yards and 105 rushing yards while allowing 11 points and 346 total yards defensively which included 333 passing yards and 13 rushing yards. 

Bryson Barnes led the team in passing completing 12 of 18 attempts for 159 yards and a touchdown while adding 11 rushing yards and a touchdown on three attempts. Micah Bernard led the team in rushing with seven carries for 45 yards while adding two receptions for six yards. Money Parks led the team in receiving, catching one of two targets for 70 yards and a touchdown.

The Baylor Bears were 26.5-point favorites at home against the Texas State Bobcats, a team that finished last season with a record of 4-8, however, the Bears lost the game 31-42 in week 1 of the college football season. 

The Bears scored 31 points while compiling 525 total yards offensively which included 417 passing yards and 108 rushing yards and allowed the Texas State Bobcats to score 42 points and gave up 441 total yards defensively which included 298 passing yards and 143 rushing yards. 

Blake Shapen led the team in passing completing 21 of 31 attempts for 304 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing touchdown. Dominic Richardson led the team in rushing with 16 attempts for 80 yards while adding two receptions for 18 yards. Drake Dabney led the team in receiving, catching six of nine targets for 101 yards and two touchdowns.

BookMaker has the Utah Utes listed as 7-point favorites on the road against the Baylor Bears on Saturday in week 2 of the college football season. This will be the first time in the history of these two programs that they will play each other in college football. 

Utah is 1-0 ATS overall and 1-0 ATS as a favorite this season after finishing last season with a record of 8-6 ATS overall, 2-4 ATS on the road, and 7-4 ATS as a favorite while Baylor is 0-1 ATS overall and 0-1 ATS at home this season after finishing last season with a record of 7-6 ATS overall, 4-2 ATS at home, and 4-2 ATS as an underdog.

Utah is the more talented team this season and proved that with a win against the Florida Gators at home while the Baylor Bears lost as a 26.5-point favorite against the Texas State Bobcats. Utah was the better team at covering the spread last season going 8-6 ATS overall while Baylor was 7-6 ATS overall. I look for the Utes to travel to Baylor and get the win on the road and have no problem covering the 7-point spread which is why I will be taking the Utah Utes -7 on BookMaker for this matchup on Saturday afternoon.
