College Football Betting Preview: Washington Huskies vs. Tulsa Golden Hurricanes

September 9, 2023

The Tulsa Golden Hurricanes travel to take on the Washington Huskies in week 2 of the college football season and both enter this game with records of 1-0 after Tulsa defeated the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions at home by a score of 42-7 while Washington defeated the Boise State Broncos at home by a score of 56-19 in week 1 of the college football season. Will the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes keep the game closer or will the Washington Huskies get an easy win at home to improve to 2-0 on the season? Let’s take a closer look at how these teams are faring this season.

The Tulsa Golden Hurricanes defeated the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions in week 1 of the college football season by a score of 42-7 at home, however, the Golden Hurricanes failed to cover the 41-point spread as a favorite at home. Tulsa scored 42 points while compiling 517 total yards offensively which included 257 passing yards and 260 rushing yards while allowing 7 points and 252 total yards defensively which included 150 passing yards and 102 rushing yards.

Cardell Williams led the team in passing, completing 13 of 14 attempts for 233 yards and three touchdowns while adding a rushing touchdown. Jordan Ford led the team in rushing with 19 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown while adding two receptions for three yards. Marquis Shoulders led the team in receiving, catching all five targets for 132 yards and two touchdowns.

Washington had an impressive win in week 1 of the college football season by defeating the Boise Broncos at home by a score of 56-19 and covering the 14-point spread as a favorite at home. The Huskies scored 56 points while compiling 568 total yards offensively which included 490 passing yards and 78 rushing yards while allowing 19 points and 402 total yards defensively which included 264 passing yards and 138 rushing yards. Michael Penix Jr. led the team in passing, completing 29 of 40 attempts for 450 yards and five touchdowns. Will Nixon led the team in rushing with six carries for 48 yards. Rome Odunze led the team in receiving, catching seven of eight targets for 132 yards and a touchdown.

BookMaker has the Washington Huskies listed as 34-point favorites at home against the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon in week 2 of the college football season. This will be the first time in the history of these two programs that they will face each other in college football. Tulsa is 0-1 ATS overall after finishing last season with a record of 3-8-1 ATS overall, 2-4 ATS on the road, and 2-3-1 ATS as an underdog while Washington is 1-0 ATS overall, 1-0 ATS at home, and 1-0 ATS as a favorite this season after finishing last season with a record of 8-5 ATS overall, 5-2 ATS at home, and 6-5 ATS as a favorite.

Washington is one of the best teams in college football this season and has one of the more prolific passing offenses in the country. I don’t think Tulsa’s secondary matches up well against Washington’s passing game which is why I am expecting another blowout win for the Washington Huskies in week 2 of the college football season. As a result, I am taking the Washington Huskies -34 at home against the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes on BookMaker.
