The Tulsa Golden Hurricanes defeated the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions in week 1 of the college football season by a score of 42-7 at home, however, the Golden Hurricanes failed to cover the 41-point spread as a favorite at home. Tulsa scored 42 points while compiling 517 total yards offensively which included 257 passing yards and 260 rushing yards while allowing 7 points and 252 total yards defensively which included 150 passing yards and 102 rushing yards. 

Cardell Williams led the team in passing, completing 13 of 14 attempts for 233 yards and three touchdowns while adding a rushing touchdown. Jordan Ford led the team in rushing with 19 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown while adding two receptions for three yards. Marquis Shoulders led the team in receiving, catching all five targets for 132 yards and two touchdowns.

Washington had an impressive win in week 1 of the college football season by defeating the Boise Broncos at home by a score of 56-19 and covering the 14-point spread as a favorite at home. The Huskies scored 56 points while compiling 568 total yards offensively which included 490 passing yards and 78 rushing yards while allowing 19 points and 402 total yards defensively which included 264 passing yards and 138 rushing yards. Michael Penix Jr. led the team in passing, completing 29 of 40 attempts for 450 yards and five touchdowns. Will Nixon led the team in rushing with six carries for 48 yards. Rome Odunze led the team in receiving, catching seven of eight targets for 132 yards and a touchdown.
