The Western Michigan Broncos (1-0) will take a trip to New York to face the Syracuse Orange (1-0). Can the Broncos be competitive on the road, despite being huge underdogs?

The Broncos came out strong in their 35-17 win over the St. Francis Red Flash recently. They were consistently good each quarter, scoring at least a touchdown to put the game in their favor.

Based on their recent performance, they put up 509 total yards with 339 of those coming from rushing attacks. On defense, they allowed 281 yards and 230 of those came from passes. This is a good start to their success, but they will need to defend more.

In 2022, they capped off their season with a two-game win streak and ended with a 5-7 record in the MAC West. They are in a good position to do even better, but of course need strong wins here.

They will likely need to be more productive on passing offense, as the Orange have been good defensively so far. While they have been great at running the ball, they will eventually need to mix it up.

The Orange finished off the Colgate Raiders 65-0 in their opener at home. This was not even close to start, as the Orange went up 37-0 by halftime.

They were able to put up 677 yards total, with 406 coming from passes. They allowed just 106 total yards, with it being split almost evenly among passing and rushing yards. These numbers will obviously not last, but it will be interesting to see if they can recreate some of that magic.

Looking at last season, they finished 7-6 in the ACC. This might be a tough year once again if the ACC has a handful of quality teams again.

If they are able to get out ahead early, they have a shot to cover the spread. However, they are still a threat to win this matchup with good play on both sides of the field.
