The third game of a tripleheader on the NFL Network on Saturday in week 2 of the 2024 NFL Preseason will feature the Dallas Cowboys traveling to Paradise, Nevada, to face the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium. The kick-off is scheduled for 10:00 pm ET on Saturday night.
Both teams lost in week 1 of the 2024 NFL preseason by one point, with the Dallas Cowboys losing on the road against the Los Angeles Rams by a score of 12-13 last Sunday and the Las Vegas Raiders losing on the road last Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings by a score of 23-24.
The Dallas Cowboys lost last week on the road against the Los Angeles Rams 12-13, with all four scores coming via field goals from Brandon Aubrey with the field goals coming from 30 yards, 36 yards, 38 yards, and a 52-yard field goal, with the final field goal giving the Cowboys at 12-6 lead with 2:57 left to go in the 4th quarter.
However, the defense couldn't stop the Rams from scoring on their final possession, as Stetson Bennett connected with Miller Forristall for the game-winning touchdown with 4 seconds left. Trey Lance saw most of the snaps offensively for Dallas in week 1 of the preseason and led the team in passing and rushing after completing 25 of 41 attempts for 188 yards while rushing six times for 44 yards.
Cooper Rush was the only other quarterback to play for Dallas as Dak Prescott didn't play in the game. However, Prescott will likely see some playing time in week 2 against the Raiders. The stats were about as even as the final score as Dallas was outgained by Los Angeles 309 to 316 and won the time of possession 31:03 to 28:57.
However, the Cowboys were unable to capitalize on the four turnovers their defense forced the Rams to make. The Dallas Cowboys will look to even their preseason record 1-1 when they travel to face the Las Vegas Raiders on Saturday night.
Las Vegas lost on the road against the Minnesota Vikings in week 1 of the NFL Preseason and failed to cover the 3-point spread as a road favorite. The Raiders had a 20-7 lead at halftime of the game before being outscored by the Vikings 3-17 in the 2nd half, including allowing two passing touchdowns in the 3rd quarter. Las Vegas's defense will need to improve as they allowed a total of 452 yards offensively in the loss to the Vikings; however, Las Vegas won the time of possession 34:39 to 25:21 and was +1 in the turnover battle despite the loss.
Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell are expected to battle it out this preseason for the starting quarterback role for the Raiders. However, Minshew led the team in passing with 117 yards and was the only quarterback to throw a touchdown. O'Connell had the better completion percentage after completing 7 of 9 attempts, while Minshew only completed 50% of his passing attempts.
The Las Vegas Raiders will look to bounce back from their week 1 loss in the preseason when they host the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night.
With the teams playing in opposite conferences, they only get a chance to play each other once every four seasons during the regular season in the NFL. The most recent meeting came in the 2021 NFL season, resulting in a 36-33 win for the Las Vegas Raiders on the road and a 7-point cover as an underdog.
Dallas has won three of the last four games in the series and has outscored Las Vegas by an average of 27 to 21 points per game while going 1-3 ATS in those contests.
Dallas has won four of the last five games in the series. However, the Cowboys have lost six of the previous nine road games against the Raiders. The Cowboys have also failed to cover the spread in three of their last four games against the Raiders and have a record of 3-9 ATS in their last 12 preseason games. Buy the .5 point and lay the 6 points with the Las Vegas Raiders when they host the Dallas Cowboys in week 2 of the 2024 NFL Preseason.
