The Dallas Cowboys (1-2) are not quite yet in panic mode but face a determined New York Giants (1-2) looking to build on the momentum in their NFL matchup on Thursday, September 26 at 8:15 PM ET at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
In this Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants NFL betting preview, the Cowboys are favored with a point spread at -4.5 (-105).
The Cowboys were down 28-6 heading into the fourth quarter before Dak Prescott and the offense finally woke up. Unfortunately, it was too late, and the Cowboys fell short 28-25.
Prescott put up big numbers, with 379 yards and two touchdowns on 28 completions out of 51. The run game was separate from their plan, as Rico Dowdle led with eight carries for 32 yards. If their offense can burst through with 19 points in a quarter, they have the potential to get the train moving again from last season.
Their defense must improve if their offense is on par with a high-scoring game. They allowed 456 yards and 24 first downs from the Ravens and let them have possession for almost 35 minutes.
The Cowboys score 25.7 points per game and currently rank fifth. But their defense is on the other side of the planet, allowing 29.7 points per game and ranking 30th.
The Giants scored their first win of the season, a 21-15 win over the Cleveland Browns. They did well in the first half, going up 21-7, but almost let the Browns back into it.
Daniel Jones only missed 10 of his 34 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns. One of the key plays they made was throwing the ball anywhere in the vicinity of Malik Naberd, who had eight receptions for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
They powered through in total yards and first downs over the Browns but also had possession for nearly 34 minutes. They also forced two turnovers but had two of their own, which could be an issue against the Cowboys.
The Giants are producing 15.0 points a game and ranking 29th. Their defense is at least better in ranking, coming in at 20th, allowing 21.3 points per game.
