Dana White's Contender Series - Season 7, Week 6 Betting Preview: James Llontop vs. Malik Lewis
September 12, 2023
James Llontop and Malik Lewis headline the upcoming Dana White’s Contender Series week six main event. These two lightweights will put on a show for a great betting opportunity.
Location: UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada
Date: Tuesday, August 22, 2023
Main Card: 8:00 PM ET
Watch on: ESPN+
James Llontop Betting Preview
Llontop has had 11 battles without a defeat since 2019 and is aiming to land another. His most recent victory was a third-round TKO against Orlanison Neris de Oliveira back at Fusion Fighting Championship 60 in May earlier this year.
He has established 13 wins on his resume, which showcase seven knockouts, one submission, and five decisions. Three of his 13 successes have been first-round finishes and he had one loss by submission and decision.
“Goku” has been great so far in the FFC, where he has gone 10-0 under the promotion. A few of these battles have been against quality fighters, but there are a few others that are easier wins.
According to rankings by Peru and Latin America, he is considered to be the best prospect out of those regions. He has a great opportunity to land a UFC contract.
Malik Lewis Betting Preview
Lewis is getting a second shot at DWCS, as this was his only loss in his career two fights back. His most recent battle was a third-round TKO against Paulo Silva in February earlier this year.
Looking over his seven battles so far, he has five that have come by knockout and one other is by submission. Three of his seven battles have resulted in a first-round finish and his recent loss was a knockout.
“Hard Knock” has primarily fought with the Peak Fighting Club. He has gone 4-1 under the promotion and will aim to secure one outside of that banner.
Lewis is considered to be the 72
nd
-best professional lightweight fighter in the United States. This is a great opportunity to show his skills and obtain a contract, as well as improve his ranking.
Game Odds, Series Trends, and Free Pick
The following moneyline odds from MyBookie shows that James Llontop is moving towards becoming a moderate favorite to be victorious. You may want to consider him in a parlay with other battles on the night to give his odds a boost.
Malik Lewis: +145
James Llontop: -190
Both fighters stack up great on paper, but Llontop has looked more appealing in his time with the FFC. Lewis has had a great start, but he has not faced the same level of competition. This should come down to who can land a knockout first, with Llontop the likely winner of this battle.
Final Pick: Take James Llontop to Win at -190
