The Dana White's Contender Series kicks off another week of exciting matchups worth your attention for betting opportunities. The opener of the night begins with a welterweight showdown with Mitch Ramirez and Carlos Prates.
Location: UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada
Date: Tuesday August 29, 2023
Main Card: 7:00 PM ET
Watch on: ESPN+
Mitch Ramirez Betting Preview
The undefeated 30-year-old, Ramirez, comes into the octagon with a pristine 7-0 professional record. He has showcased his talents in various fighting promotions, earning tough wins in the Legacy Fighting Alliance, Tuff-N-Uff, and most recently against Jeremie Holloway in the XMMA in the second round in May of this year.
Out of seven of his victories, they consist of four knockouts, two submissions, and one decision. Five of his seven wins have resulted in a first round finish.
“The Fight Stalker” is looking great coming into this battle. His last two fights have arguably been his toughest and that should bode well for his chances heading into another tough battle.
Ramirez is considered to be the 40
th
best welterweight fighter in the United States according to rankings. This is a great opportunity to improve that and earn a UFC contract.
Carlos Prates Betting Preview
Prates is looking to impress and improve on his 16-6 record, which is currently on a remarkable six-fight winning streak. Notably, he landed his last two victories with first-round stoppages in LFA events.
His 16 wins consist of 11 knockouts, three submissions, and two decisions. Seven of his 16 wins have resulted in a first round finish and three of his six losses have come by submission.
“Carlao” has had quality battles in a few different fighting leagues over the years. He has established a 2-0 record in the LFA and One Championship, which were against good competitors to prepare him for this battle.
Prates is currently ranked as the second best welterweight fighter out of Brazil. He has a good opportunity to make his name known in the US with a victory here.
Game Odds, Series Trends and Free Pick
The following moneyline from MyBookie shows that Carlos Prates is a moderate favorite to win this battle. You might consider adding Prates to a parlay in order to get the best deal on your odds with other battles on the night.
Mitch Ramirez: +205
Carlos Prates: -265
The biggest difference between Ramirez and Prates is the strength of schedule, where Prates has consistently battled against better opponents to give a good measure of what he is worth coming into this fight. They both have a majority of their wins coming by knockout, so expect this battle to potentially end the same in favor of Prates.
Final Pick: Take Carlos Prates to Win at -265
