August 15, 2023
Dana White's Contender Series is back with a fresh set of thrilling face-offs, offering aspiring fighters the chance to secure coveted UFC contracts. Do not miss the chance to explore the betting prospects as the spotlight falls on the compelling light heavyweight clash between Paulo Renato Jr. and Ibo Aslan.
Location: UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada
Date: Tuesday August 15, 2023
Main Card: 7:00 PM ET
Watch on: ESPN+
Paulo Renato Jr. Betting Preview
Renato is looking to build on his two-fight win streak from late 2022. His most recent victory was a first round TKO in IFL 11 against Juecir Neumann back in July of last year.
His fighting resume shows that he has 12 wins that consists of nine knockouts, one submission, and two decisions. Six of his 12 wins have resulted in a first round finish and he has one loss each by submission and decision.
This will be the second time Renato is competing in the Contender Series, with the first time being a unanimous decision loss. His most prominent experience has been 4-0 in Inside Fighters’ League.
Renato is currently ranked as the 19
th
best light heavyweight fighter in Brazil. This is a great opportunity, especially with a second chance, to make things right and earn a UFC contract.
Ibo Aslan Betting Preview
Aslan is currently on a three-fight win streak as he approaches this event. His most recent win was a first round TKO in Vendetta Fight Nights 33 against Giorgi Khubejashvili back in March of this year.
His fighting resume shows that he has 11 wins that consist of 11 knockouts. 10 of his 11 wins have resulted in a first round finish and his only loss has come by submission.
“The Last Ottoman” has competed in several quality fighting leagues, with his best being 7-0 in Austrian Fight Challenge. He has not fought anyone worth mentioning, as most of his battles have been against subpar fighters.
Aslan is currently ranked as the 17
th
best light heavyweight fighter in Eastern Europe. This is a great opportunity to land a win against an established fighter and earn a respectable resume.
Game Odds, Series Trends and Free Pick
The following moneyline from MyBookie shows that Ibo Aslan is a slight favorite to win this fight. Both have compelling resumes, which should make for a great fight.
Paulo Renato Jr.: +125
Ibo Aslan: -155
*odds are subject to changes
While both fighters have not had the most appealing resumes in terms of the strength of their opponents, Renato’s slightly stands out. In addition, he will likely not allow a second opportunity at the Contender Series go to waste. Look for Renato to come out ahead.
Final Pick: Take Paulo Renato Jr. to Win at +125
