Denver Nuggets vs. Indiana Pacers

January 23, 2024

Two of the better teams in the NBA will square off on Tuesday evening when the Denver Nuggets travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to face the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse with the game tipping off at 7:00 PM ET and airing on Bally Sports Indiana.

The Denver Nuggets are one of the top teams in the NBA with a record of 30-14 which puts them in 3rd place in the Western Conference and gives them the 6th best record in the NBA while having won four of their last five games and are on a two-game winning streak following a 113-104 win on the road against the Washington Wizards on Sunday.

The Nuggets have been above average offensively and defensively this season as they are averaging 116.31 points per game while allowing the 7th fewest points per game in the NBA with an average of 111.36 points allowed per game. Nikola Jokic is having an MVP-caliber season as he leads the team in scoring, rebounds, assists, and blocks with an average of 26.1 points, 11.9 rebounds, 9.1 assists, and 0.95 blocks per game with the 11.9 rebounds per game being the 4th best in the league this season.

The Denver Nuggets will look to extend their winning streak to three games when they travel to face the Indiana Pacers.

Indiana enters this game in 7th place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 24-19, however, they have lost four of their last five games and are on a two-game losing streak. The absence of Tyrese Haliburton has been one of the major reasons for the Pacers losing four of their last five games as Haliburton has missed four of those five games and will be a game-time decision for the game against Denver.

Haliburton has been one of the main catalysts for the Pacers being the top-scoring team in the NBA with an average of 125.2 points per game as he leads the team in scoring and assists with an average of 23.6 points and 12.6 assists per game. Defensively, the Pacers have been one of the worst teams, however, that is because they play at one of the fastest tempos in the NBA which leads them to allow the 2nd most points per game with an average of 123.44 points per game. The Indiana Pacers will look to end their two-game losing streak when they host the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday evening.

BookMaker has the Denver Nuggets listed as 3-point favorites on the road against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday evening. Denver has won eight of the last ten including the previous seven meetings. The teams are 5-5 ATS in the last ten while the Pacers have covered the spread in two of the last three games in the series. The Denver Nuggets are 19-24-1 ATS overall, 8-15 ATS on the road, and 17-21-1 ATS as a favorite this season while the Indiana Pacers are 24-18-2 ATS overall, 12-8-1 ATS at home, and 14-10-1 ATS as an underdog on the year.

Denver enters this game with a better record and has been the dominant team in the series, winning eight of the last ten including the previous seven matchups. However, the Pacers have been the better team at covering the spread most recently in the series as they have covered the spread in two of the last three contests while having been the better team at covering the spread this season with a record of 24-18-2 ATS overall and 12-8-1 ATS at home while the Nuggets are 19-24-1 ATS overall and 8-15 ATS on the road which is why I am taking the points with the Indiana Pacers when they host the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday evening.
