Florida State Seminoles vs. Boston College Eagles

September 2, 2024

Written By: Evan Perkins

The Boston College Eagles (0-0) take on the 10th-ranked Florida State Seminoles (0-1) on Monday, September 2, at 7:30 PM ET at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida. The Seminoles came into this battle favored to rebound with a point spread at -16.5 (-110).

Boston College Eagles Betting Preview

The Eagles had a 7-6 season last year and finished 3-5 in the ACC. However, they were not that strong on the road, going 3-2 in the five games they played away.

These two teams played each other early in last year's season. The Eagles nearly had enough to win but came short in a 31-29 outing. Quarterback Thomas Castellanos played one of his best games here, and now he is back to try to gain a win on them.

Castellanos is going to be a threat against the Seminoles' defense. They had issues defending against Georgia Tech's quarterback Haynes King, who Castellanos is arguably better than and can execute the offense with precision.

The Eagles have a tremendous offensive line and will bring in quality players who are experienced in their position. This includes running back Kyle Robichaux. They also have a determined head coach looking to make a statement with Bill O'Brien in his first season with the Eagles.

Florida State Seminoles Betting Preview

The Seminoles are coming off a 24-21 stunner loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in their opener on the road. While neither team had any turnovers, the Yellow Jackets had more yards total (336 to 291) and had possession of the ball almost as much as the Seminoles.

Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei did not play as well as he was expected to perform. He completed 19 of 27 passes and had 193 yards. Other players ran for touchdowns, and plenty of field goals were made to earn points.

The defense was arguably too aggressive in its pass coverage, which gave the Yellow Jackets plenty of opportunities to dismantle them with their running game. Dual-threat quarterback Haynes King took advantage of those weaknesses.

The Seminoles are also at a disadvantage compared to their squad last year. They lost several starters, including the quarterback, running back, and critical receivers, who pushed this offense positively.
