Fulham vs Tottenham
March 16, 2024
Tottenham Hotspur make the short trip to Fulham as the two London rivals go head-to-head at Craven Cottage in Saturday's late Premier League kick-off.
Spurs claimed a 2-0 victory over Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this season.
The Cottagers, on the other hand, had knocked Tottenham out of the League Cup back in August after a penalty shootout at Craven Cottage.
Overall, Spurs have won their last four Premier League matches against Fulham and will be looking to build on this weekend.
Fulham Betting Preview (+215 at Everygame)
The Cottagers suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Wolves last weekend. Although they created more scoring chances, they failed to convert most of them.
Yet Marco Silva's side have enjoyed a renewed run of form of late and seem to be settled for a comfortable mid-table finish once again, having built up a 14-point cushion between themselves and the drop zone.
Fulham has shown they can be tough to crack in their matches against Arsenal and Manchester United or even their defeats to Chelsea and Liverpool earlier in the season. Still, we've also seen the other Fulham collapse against other clubs.
The West London outfit finished 10
th
last season, and they also had a goal scorer like Aleksandar Mitrovic. This season, though, Mitrovic departed to join Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal and Marco Silva, who don't have such a prolific striker at his disposal right now.
Having sustained a hamstring injury against Everton in late January, Raul Jimenez missed Fulham's last six top-flight games. However, he may be fit enough to make the matchday squad for Saturday's London derby against Tottenham. Besides the Mexican forward, the Fulham boss has no further injury concerns.
Rodrigo Muniz, who boasts six direct goal involvements (five goals and one assist) from his last six matches, should lead the line for Fulham anyway.
Portuguese midfielder Joao Palhinha missed the victories over Manchester United and Brighton due to suspension (yellow card accumulation). It was only introduced as a second-half substitute at the Molineux last time.
With that said, Marco Silva could again opt to field the same midfield duo of Sasa Lukic and Harrison Reed, though Palhinha's work rate could be necessary against Spurs.
Tottenham Hotspur Betting Preview (+110 at Everygame)
Ange Postecoglou's side will be eager to continue their charge for a top-four finish when they travel to face London rivals Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday. Spurs took a huge step towards Champions League qualification with a statement 4-0 victory over Aston Villa last time out and could leapfrog the Birmingham outfit with a win at Craven Cottage.
Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League table, having lost only one of their past five top-flight matches. Indeed, that 2-1 home defeat to Wolves one month ago remains their only league loss of 2024—since the 4-2 defeat at Brighton on December 28.
Four second-half goals secured a crucial 4-0 victory over fellow top-four contenders Aston Villa. Having scored seven goals in their last two wins over Crystal Palace and the Villans, Tottenham had finally unleashed their attacking potential ahead of a busy schedule.
Spurs are set for three consecutive matches with Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool between April 20 and May 4, but their top-four bid mostly depends on the results against other clubs.
The most considerable deliberation facing Spurs concerns Richarlison. The Brazilian forward sustained a knee injury and missed his club's last two league games, but he has openly suggested that he should be fit enough to feature in some capacity against Fulham.
Elsewhere, there are no concrete indications of Micky van de Ven's condition after the Dutch defender limped off against Aston Villa last weekend. Still, he is not expected to feature this weekend. That means Romanian center-back Radu Dragusin should come in to make his first start for the North London outfit.
Even though he only made a late appearance at Aston Villa, Timo Werner scored his second goal for Tottenham, and the German forward could start against Fulham.
Meanwhile, backup goalkeeper Fraser Forster, Ryan Sessegnon, and Manor Solomon remain sidelined for Spurs.
Possible Starting Lineups of Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur
Fulham: Bernd Leno - Timothy Castagne, Tosin Adarabioyo, Calvin Bassey, Antonee Robinson - Joao Palhinha, Sasa Lukic - Harry Wilson, Andreas Pereira, Alex Iwobi - Rodrigo Muniz. (4-2-3-1)
Tottenham Hotspur: Guglielmo Vicario - Destiny Udogie, Radu Dragusin, Cristian Romero, Pedro Porro - Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma - Timo Werner, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski - Son Heung-Min. (4-2-3-1)
Spooky Express Betting Prediction
Fulham now host a Spurs side whose clean sheet over 10-man Aston Villa was their first in the Premier League since mid-December, when they earned a 2-0 victory at Nottingham Forest.
However, Tottenham claimed a massive 4-0 victory at Villa Park last weekend, which boosted their Champions League hopes. Despite their defensive inconsistency, they should still be able to outscore Fulham on Saturday.
