The ACC Conference tournament will tip off on Tuesday afternoon when the 13^th seed Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets face the 12^th seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish with the conference tournament taking place in Washington, District of Columbia at the Capital One Arena with this matchup starting at 2:00 PM ET and airing on the ACC Network.

The Yellow Jackets finished the regular season in a tie with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the 3^rd worst record in the ACC at 7-13 and had an overall record of 14-17, however, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets ended the season winning four of their last six games but saw their three-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday with a 57-72 loss on the road against the Virginia Cavaliers. 

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will need to win the ACC tournament if they have any chance of making the NCAA tournament this season and given how tough Georgia Tech will have of winning five games in a row I don’t foresee that being a possibility. Georgia Tech’s struggles this season came from their offensive play as they ranked 268^th in scoring with an average of 70.71 points per game. 

However, the Yellow Jackets averaged 73 points per game over their final four games of the regular season. Georgia Tech lost both games against Notre Dame this season with a 68-75 loss in overtime at home in the first matchup and a 55-58 loss on the road in the 2^nd matchup and will look to get their first win of the season against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the opening round of the ACC tournament.

Like the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, the only hope the Fighting Irish have of earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament this season is by winning the ACC tournament.  In order to do that, it would mean they will have to win five games in a row which is highly unlikely given their struggles this season.  

They have finished seven games below .500 with a record of 12-19 and six games under .500 in conference games at 7-13, however, two of their seven wins in the ACC came against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as they won the first matchup on the road and the 2^nd matchup at home in two tightly contested games winning by an average margin of 5 points per game in the series this season. 

Notre Dame also ended the regular season on a two-game losing streak following Saturday’s 76-82 loss on the road against the Virginia Tech Hokies. The offensive play for Notre Dame this season played a major role in their struggles as they averaged the 9^th fewest points per game in college basketball with an average of 63.55 points per game. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will look to end the season for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets by winning their 3^rd consecutive game against the Yellow Jackets this season when they face off in the opening round of the ACC tournament on Tuesday afternoon.

WagerWeb has the Notre Dame Fighting Irish listed as 1.5-point favorites against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the opening round of the ACC tournament on Tuesday afternoon. Notre Dame has dominated the series against Georgia Tech as they have won eight of the last ten and are on a two-game winning streak against the Yellow Jackets while also having covered the spread in seven of the last ten games in the series, however, the underdog in the series this season as covered the spread both times with Notre Dame covering as a 6.5-point underdog on the road and the Yellow Jackets covering as a 3.5-point underdog on the road.

Both games were tightly contested this season with the first contest having to go to overtime to be decided and the 2^nd contest being decided by 3 points. However, Notre Dame won both games and has been the better team in the series winning eight of the last ten and covering the spread in seven of the last ten. 

I look for the game to be another tightly contested game on Tuesday afternoon, however, I am going with the Fighting Irish to advance to the 2^nd round of the ACC tournament with a win against the Yellow Jackets and I will be taking the moneyline for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in this meeting for their 3^rd win this season against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
