Golden State Warriors vs. Sacramento Kings
April 16, 2024
The veteran Golden State Warriors will face the upstart Sacramento Kings in the league's play-in game Tuesday night inside Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA. Tip-off is at 10 p.m., and this should be a great meeting between the 9
th
- and 10
th
-place teams in the Western Conference.
Bookmaker
has installed the veteran Warriors as a slim - 2 1/2 point favorite.
Golden State Warriors Betting Preview
The Warriors (46-36) have shown their age this season, but like the heart of a champion, they found a way to get to this point and give themselves a fighting chance to get back to the playoffs. They are not the same team that won titles years ago by putting up monster-scoring stats and numbers. They are an old team that has had issues on and off the court all season, but they still have a wild card in veteran shooting guard Stephen Curry, who can still steal a game.
This is a dangerous spot for the Kings because the whole league knows that if Curry catches fire, it could be a long night for the home team. Curry is averaging 27 points a game, while Klay Thompson is chipping in with around 17 a game.
The Warriors will live and die with the three-ball in this game, and if they can establish any type of presence in the lane and win the battle on the boards, they have a shot at winning.
Sacramento Kings Betting Preview
The Kings (46-36) have struggled as they closed the regular season, losing five of seven overall. They are still a young and talented team with a ton of athleticism. They know they will have to knock down their open shots and not allow the Warriors to get second-chance points or get out on the fast break.
Sacramento loves to run the floor, too, and they do it with the likes of De'Aaron Fox, who is averaging around 26 points a game, along with five rebounds and five assists. If the Kings can get their role players to step up and if they can also get a big game from power forward Domantas Sabonis, who is chipping in with 19 points a game, they can win this one.
The Kings are connecting on nearly 51% from the floor, including an excellent 37% from beyond the arc this season. Look for Fox to drive the lane and look for their shooters for some clean looks.
Game Odds, Series Trends, and Free Pick
The Kings are 1-4 in their last five games and 2-3 in their previous five games against the spread, and they are also 27-14 in their road games against the spread. The totals have gone over in just one out of their last five games. The Warriors are 4-1 in their previous five games and 3-2 in their last five games against the number. They are also 12-29 in their road games against the spread. The totals have gone over in three out of their last five games.
Pick: Golden State Warriors - 2.5
