The 2023 Hawaii Bowl will take place on Saturday, December 23^rd, and will feature the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the San Jose State Spartans in Honolulu, Hawaii with kickoff scheduled for 10:30 PM ET on Saturday night and will air on ESPN.

 

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers finished the regular season in 3^rd place in the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference with a record of 7-5, however, the Chanticleers finished the regular season on a two-game losing streak which included a 14-56 loss at home against the James Madison Dukes in the season finale. The Chanticleers featured a slightly above-average scoring offense and an above-average passing attack as they enter this game averaging 28 points and 257.42 passing yards per game while the scoring defense was also above-average as they enter this game allowing an average of 24.67 points per game which is below the national average of 25.76 points per game. The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will look to end their two-game losing streak when they face the San Jose Spartans on Saturday night.

 

San Jose State finished the season in 2^nd place in the Mountain West Conference with a record of 7-5, however, they did not play in the Mountain West Championship game because they lost the tiebreaker to the Boise State Broncos and UNLV Rebels.

 

The Spartans also finished the season on a six-game winning streak following a 37-31 win on the road against the UNLV Rebels in their regular season finale. The success for San Jose State this season can be attributed to their offensive play as they enter this game averaging 33.33 points per game and had one of the better rushing offenses as they averaged 186.17 rushing yards per game during the regular season which ranked 27^th in college football.

 

Kairee Robinson played a pivotal role in the success of the rushing offense as he led the team in rushing with 1,124 yards and 18 touchdowns. The San Jose State Spartans will look to finish the season on a seven-game winning streak when they play the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in the 2023 Hawaii Bowl.

SJ State QB will end his career at home in Hawaii where he started his career.  They have not lost in over 2 months after playing a tough early schedule. Coastal Carolina has lost a few players and will not be able to keep up.
