The Jacksonville Jaguars face off against the Miami Dolphins in an exciting NFL betting opportunity on Saturday, September 8, at 1:00 PM ET in Miami Gardens, Florida. The Dolphins are favored at home with a point spread at -3.5 (+100).
The Jaguars aim to improve their 9-8 season and second-place finish in the AFC South last year. They have a lot to like when looking at their roster from a year ago, as their offense was good at times.
However, Trevor Lawrence has a lot on his shoulders to perform at a higher level this season after being plagued by missed red zone opportunities and receivers not catching the ball. They let their best receiver Calvin Ridley, go and signed Gabe Davis. Their talent pool is deeper with receivers, and they hope to perform well collectively.
They brought in a new defensive coordinator and a handful of key defensive players in areas where they were weakest. That said, it might take some time for the defense to get together and improve from the year prior.
The Jaguars were good offensively, scoring 22.2 points per game and ranking 13th in the league last year. On defense, they were not the worst, allowing 21.8 points per game and ranking 17th. They still need to find ways to spread their averages further.
The Dolphins tied with the Buffalo Bills last season in the AFC East with an 11-6 record. They capped off their year with a 26-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card matchup.
Their offense was one of the more appealing aspects of their game and the league. Coach Mike McDaniel is back at the helm and gets to play call with elite returning offensive players. In simpler terms, this team can score easily.
The defense makes the biggest impact here, as their game plan last year seemed to be to score more points than the other team. They improved slightly on paper with several key players added and now have Anthony Weaver, previously from the Ravens, as their defensive coordinator.
The Dolphins put together 29.2 points a game and ranked second last season. Conversely, they allowed 23.0 points a game and ranked 22nd.
The NFL betting odds from MyBookie show plenty of opportunities in the Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Miami Dolphins battle. This will likely be a close game, as the Dolphins are 3.5-point favorites.
Betting trends show that the Dolphins have a 59.8 percent likelihood of succeeding with victory. The defense will be interesting, but take the Dolphins with better offense to cover.
