Miami Heat vs. Philadelphia 76ers

April 4, 2024

The Miami Heat are set to clash against the desperate Philadelphia 76ers Thursday night inside the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. They tip it off at 7:30 p.m. in what should be a very competitive and highly contested game between two teams that do not like each other.

Bookmaker has installed the Heat as a slim - 2.5 point favorite.

Philadelphia 76ers Betting Preview

The 76ers (41-35) were excited to welcome back the face of the franchise in center Joel Embiid, who came back from injury and hit the floor against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Embiid had missed the last nine weeks following knee surgery but returned to lead the 76ers to a challenging 109-105 win as he sank four free throws in the final 40 seconds to seal the win. The move to get him on the floor ignited a spark in the team, but it might be too little too late.

Philadelphia needs the depth and the overall talent to make a deep run this season, even with Embiid on the floor. They are not the best shooting team, and they have had issues on the defensive side of the floor this season, which have led to some bad stretches.

On offense, besides Embiid, the 76ers will look to Tyrese Maxey, who has stepped into his own this season and has been able to keep the team somewhat afloat in Embiid's absence. Maxey can only do so much when Embiid is not on the floor, and the 76ers need to have him out there in the future.

Miami Heat Betting Preview

The Heat (42-33) have quietly put together a solid season, but this is a different team than it was a couple of years ago. Age is starting to catch up with them, and they have been more reliant on their young stars than their aging veterans, like Jimmy Butler, who can still play at a high level.

He is not the player he was years ago, but if Miami needs a 20-25 point performance from him in a prominent spot, he usually delivers and has done that for much of his career. Miami will look for Tyler Herro to lead the way as the young budding point guard enters the game, scoring 20 points a clip and handing out 4.4 assists per contest.

He is a star in the making and not shy about taking the last shot. The Heat would love for Butler to turn back the clock, and they would also love for their bench to chip in when called upon. Butler has had some big games against his former team, averaging 21 points and four assists while connecting on a solid 49% from the floor.
