The Virginia Tech Hokies will play the Tulane Green Wave in the 2023 Military Bowl on Wednesday, December 27^th, in Annapolis, Maryland at Jack Stephens Field at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium with the game scheduled to start at 2:00 PM ET on Wednesday afternoon and will air on ESPN.

 

Virginia Tech exceeded their expectations entering the season as they entered the year with an over/under win total of 5 wins as they enter this game with a record of 6-6 which led to a 4^th place finish in the ACC. The success for the Hokies this season can be attributed to their defense as they enter this matchup allowing an average of 24.25 points per game and were a slightly above-average scoring team as they are averaging 28.58 points per game and had one of the better-rushing offenses in college football as they are averaging 175.58 rushing yards per game. 

 

Kyron Drones played a pivotal role in the success of the Hokies this season as he led the team in passing and was 2^nd on the team in rushing as he enters this game having completed 153 of 264 attempts for 1,994 yards with 15 touchdowns and three interceptions while rushing for 642 yards and four touchdowns. The  Hokies will look to build off the momentum following the win in the season finale against the Virginia Cavaliers when they play the Tulane Green Wave.

 

The Tulane Green Wave finished the regular season ranked 23^rd in the AP Poll and 24^th in the Coaches Poll with a record of 11-2, however, they lost in the American Athletic Championship game against the SMU Mustangs by a score of 14-26 which also ended their ten-game winning streak. Tulane was not as explosive on offense this season as they were last season as they enter this game averaging 26.85 points per game, however, their success this season can be attributed to their defense as they enter this game allowing an average of 18.92 points per game which is tied for 19^th in college football. 

 

Michael Pratt has played a pivotal role on offense the past few seasons for the Green Wave, however, he will not play in this game as he has opted out to prepare for the 2024 NFL Draft. The Tulane Green Wave will look to bounce back following the loss in the American Athletic Championship game against the SMU Mustangs when they play the Virginia Tech Hokies in the 2023 Military Bowl on Wednesday afternoon.
