MLB Betting Preview: Baltimore Orioles vs. Colorado Rockies
August 26, 2023
Game two of the three-game series between the Colorado Rockies and Baltimore Orioles offer good betting opportunities to consider. Both teams do well at the plate, which should result in an appealing showdown.
Date: Game 2 on August 26, 2023 at 7:05 PM ET
Location: Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland
Colorado Rockies Betting Preview
The Rockies had some issues on the mound in their previous battles before this series. This momentum is not something they need to carry into game two, as they will likely not be able to keep up with the Orioles. Chris Flexen (1-5) will try to help out on the mound in game two, but has an ERA of 7.18.
They have put up a batting average of .250, which helps provide scoring opportunities. However, they allow their opponents to average .283 and do not give them a chance to catch up against good offensive teams.
Their ERA is horrendous, as they put up 5.57 a game. They are slightly below the Orioles at getting on-base, with a percentage (OBP) at .311. Their slugging percentage is at .404, which is not bad for a team with a losing record.
The Rockies are about 31 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West. Playoff chances are out the door, but they can still offer a competitive series with their offense.
Baltimore Orioles Betting Preview
The Orioles are making the playoff push one game at a time. They looked strong in their recent series matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays, with their success potentially shifting over to this game. Kyle Brandish (8-6) starts on the mound and has an ERA of 3.03.
They are slightly better at the plate at .254 and do a better job at slowing down foes at .244. This ratio will likely help their chances at winning, especially since the Rockies are poor on the mound.
Their ERA looks amazing compared to the Rockies at 4.04 and they have a slightly higher OBP at .319. Their slugging percentage is right around the league average at .424.
The Orioles have a narrow lead in the AL East by a few games, which should not scare them away. They need to accumulate easy wins while they have the chance in order to keep ahead of the division.
Game Odds, Series Trends and Free Pick
MyBookie's latest odds show that the Baltimore Orioles are moderate favorites to win this battle. According to market analysis, the Orioles have a 71.4 percent chance to dominate in game two.
Colorado Rockies: +240
