MLB Betting Preview: Cleveland Guardians vs. Toronto Blue Jays
August 26, 2023
The second game of the three-game series between the Cleveland Guardians and Toronto Blue Jays showcases an exciting betting opportunity. They both offer good offensive abilities, making this an appealing matchup.
Date: Game 2 on August 26, 2023 at 3:07 PM ET
Location: Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario
Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview
The Guardians are going through some struggles in addition to this series. They just came off of defeats against the Los Angeles Dodgers and Detroit Tigers, which does not help their momentum as they approach game two. Logan Allen (6-6) takes the mound for game two with an ERA of 3.31.
They do well at the plate with a batting average of .249, giving them plenty of scoring opportunities. On the other hand, their opponents maintain a .244 average, which does not offer a lot of breathing room.
They have a solid ERA standing at 3.80, which is slightly worse than the Blue Jays. They have a slightly lower on-base percentage (OBP) at .311, which could play a role. Their slugging percentage is a little lacking at .377.
The Guardians are currently in second in the AL Central, trailing the Minnesota Twins by roughly six games. They could do a lot of good winning tough games on the road to help close that gap.
Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview
The Blue Jays showed great offensive performances against the Cincinnati Reds, but faulted in their last two games against the Baltimore Orioles. They have a great opportunity to turn things around in this series. Hyun Jin Ryu (2-1) has the start on the mound in game two and has an ERA of 1.89 (19 innings pitched).
They do slightly better at the plate in comparison to the Guardians, at .257. They also do better defensively, allowing .239 from their opponents.
Their ERA is more appealing at 3.68 and their OBP is better at .328. Their slugging percentage is nearing the league average at .414.
The Blue Jays need more success if they want to move out of the third place spot in the AL East, as they are behind the Orioles by about 10 games.
Game Odds, Series Trends and Free Pick
The following odds from MyBookie are showing the Toronto Blue Jays as slight favorites to be successful. According to market analysis, the Blue Jays have a 54.8 percent chance to take over game two.
Cleveland Guardians: +142
Toronto Blue Jays: -170
The Guardians are slightly below .500 on the road, while the Blue Jays are surprisingly a little above .500 at home. The Blue Jays have a more appealing offense and are the most likely to do well on the mound.
Final Pick: Take the Toronto Blue Jays to Win at -170
