MLB Betting Preview: Minnesota Twins vs. Tampa Bay Rays

September 13, 2023

The Minnesota Twins close out their three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays in the finale of the set Wednesday afternoon at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They toss out the first pitch for an early 1:10 pm start in a clash between two playoff-bound teams. The Twins won 3-2 on Tuesday night over the Rays. The Twins are +110 in this clash.

Minnesota Twins Betting Preview

The Twins (76-69) seem to have a solid and comfortable lead over the Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central as they are leading the division late in the summer. They have not been able to really pull away from the Guardians and they also have shown they are not the most explosive team on offense out there. They have some solid bats in their lineup but no one that really would instill fear into opposing pitchers. They have won three of five overall.

They are led on offense by right fielder Max Kepler who has cracked 22 home runs to go along with 57 runs batted in and he is hitting .251 on the season. They also have gotten some solid productions from shortstop Carlos Correra who has shown to be an asset in the field and at the plate.

The Twins will send out 35-year-old veteran hurler Dallas Keuchel who sports a record of 1-1 and has never been able to rekindle the magic he made on the mound in 2015 when he went 20-8 with the Houston Astros.

Tampa Bay Rays Betting Preview

The Rays (89-57) are trying their best to put as much pressure on the Baltimore Orioles as possible down the stretch. The Orioles lead the AL East by the smallest of margins over the Rays and Tampa Bay feels they have a run left in them to overtake the Orioles and steal the AL East.

Tampa Bay raced out to that fantastic start and they did it with their offense but also with some historic pitching early on, as the Rays led the league in team ERA over the first month plus of the season. The hot start faded and the Orioles were able to overtake them and have not looked back.

But, Tampa is such a deep and experienced team that they know one slip-up by Baltimore and the Rays can jump them and win the division. They are led on offense by 24-year-old third baseman Isaac Paredes who has cracked a team-high 29 home runs to pace all players on the club. They have a total of nine players who have hit ten or more home runs and they have hit a total of 208 as a team.
