The Auburn Tigers will face the Maryland Terrapins in the 2023 Music City Bowl on Saturday, December 30^th, in Nashville, Tennessee at Nissan Stadium with the game kicking off at 2:00 PM ET on Saturday afternoon and will air on ABC.

 

The Auburn Tigers were an improved team this season after finishing last season with a record of 5-7 including a 2-6 in the SEC the Tigers finished this year with a record of 6-6 and were 3-5 in conference games. 

 

Auburn was a below-average offense this season as they enter this game averaging 27.25 points per game which is below the national average of 27.90 points per game, however, Auburn had one of the best rushing offenses in college football as they enter this matchup averaging 198.42 rushing yards per game. Jarquez Hunter led the team in rushing with 865 rushing yards and seven touchdowns while adding 16 receptions for 111 yards. 

 

The defense for the Tigers was one of the better defenses in college football this season allowing an average of 21.92 points per game. The Auburn Tigers will look to end the season with a winning record when they play the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Maryland Terrapins enter this game with a record of 7-5 and are coming off a 42-24 win on the road against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in their regular season finale and finished in 4^th place in the Big Ten East Division. Maryland featured an above-average passing offense and was an above-average scoring team as they enter this game averaging 29.58 points and 267.42 passing yards per game. Taulia Tagovailoa was their leader on offense as he finished the regular season completing 290 of 437 attempts for 3,337 yards with 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. 

 

However, Tagovailoa will not play in the bowl game as he had opted out to prepare for the 2024 NFL Draft. The Maryland Terrapins will look to build off the momentum following the win in the regular season finale against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights when they play the Auburn Tigers in the 2023 Music City Bowl.
