NBA Betting Pick and Prediction: Charlotte Hornets vs. New York Knicks

November 12, 2023

The Charlotte Hornets will travel to New York, New York to face the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden with the game scheduled to start at 12:00 PM ET and will air on Bally Sports Charlotte and MSG.

Charlotte has been one of the worst teams in the NBA this season as they have started the season with a record of 3-5 which puts them in 4th place in the Southeast, only ahead of the Washington Wizards, and gives them the 11th best record in the Eastern Conference. The Hornets ended their two-game losing streak on Friday with a 124-117 win on the road against the Washington Wizards while also covering the 3-point spread as a road underdog by winning the game outright. The Hornets have one of the best scoring teams in the league as they enter this game averaging 116.29 points per game which ranks 9th in the NBA, however, they are allowing the 3rd most points per game in the NBA with an average of 123.14 points per game. The Charlotte Hornets will face a difficult opponent on Sunday when they travel to face the New York Knicks.

The New York Knicks are .500 this season, however, after a 1-2 start to the season the Knicks have won three of their last five games and are on a two-game winning streak following a 126-105 win at home against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday while covering the 9-point spread as a home favorite. The Knicks are allowing the 2nd fewest points per game in the league with an average of 102.75 points per game, however, they are also scoring the 2nd fewest points per game with an average of 107.13 points per game as they like to play at a slower pace than the majority of the NBA which goes against how the Hornets like to play and should equate to a lower-scoring game on Sunday afternoon when the Knicks host the Hornets.

BookMaker has the New York Knicks listed as New York Knicks listed as 10-point favorites at home against the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday afternoon. The teams are 5-5 in the last ten meetings while New York has won two of the last three contests. The Hornets are 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Charlotte Hornets are 4-4 ATS overall, 3-1 ATS on the road, and 4-2 ATS as an underdog this season while the New York Knicks are 4-2-2 ATS overall, 2-1-1 ATS at home and 4-1 ATS as a favorite on the year.

New York is the more talented team this season and has been the better team most recently in the series, winning two of the previous three meetings. However, the Hornets have been the better team at covering the spread in the series going 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 2-1 ATS in the last three matchups. The Hornets are also 3-1 ATS on the road this season which is why I am taking the points with the Charlotte Hornets when they travel to face the New York Knicks on Sunday afternoon.
